72 C10 - longbed muscle truck

I like that you went with the letters out!!!!

Looks great!!!

That would be a customers. Pic was taken at my buddy's shop, I went there to use the tire machine and balancer. Old land cruisers are one of his specialtys.

Nice! Good choice in specialty... as much as Chevys are cool"and the best ". Toyotas 4x4s are a good business! As is a lot of imports....

Got a new steering wheel yesterday. It's about time. The truck had a 90s Chevy lumina wheel when I got it, it was comfortable but ugly as hell. I got a wooden one from LMC but it's made by grant. Seems to be nice wood and it's beautiful. Also, the truck died on me going down the road on Sunday. Acted like it lost spark, good thing I was only a mile from home, AAA towed me for free. Checked for spark and it had none, my first thought was bad coil, so I took the one from my 76 blazer and threw it on and she fired right up.

Been a good while since I updated this thread, I let my membership expire last year and just recently re-upped it so here we go. In January of 2018 I bought a 454 out of a 1979 motorhome with 30k miles on it, got it installed that spring and running and driving, it is awesome, I also installed 3.73 gears and a posi in the axle. Does great burnouts and is pretty damn quick... But I was having problems fitting a mechanical fan and shroud since the engine was so close to the radiator. After 2 fan shrouds did not fit I basically said F it and ended up just running the clutch fan without the shroud. No bueno. It was fine as long as you were moving and didn't have to sit still for more than about 5 mins at a time. So for the last year and half I have not driven it all that much, mostly just short, run around town trips and going out to burn rubber, I was planning on moving the engine back to the second set of engine mount holes to allow room for a fan shroud but ultimately decided to go with electric fans. I am very happy with them and it was much easier than moving the engine back. They are dual fans from summit racing, believe they are basically a copy of SPAL. I am also running a champion aluminum radiator. Got them up and running today, they kick on at 185 and turn off at 175. Man, they move some air, it only takes about a minute and a half for them to kick off once they turn on. I have never had electric fans before but I am very pleased with them and as soon as it stops raining I can't wait to finally be able to enjoy the truck without worrying about it getting hot. Also installed a new Holley 750. Previously I was running a Holley 600 from the old 350 that was in the truck, but I had removed it over the summer to use on my k20, so the truck sat up until the other day, but she's back now!!! Now I can move on to fun stuff, next up is a cam and new exhaust system.

Comin along nicely!

Have been wanting to get a nice new dual exhaust built up for this rig for awhile now. As y’all can see in the previous pics it has just had a homemade true dual setup on it I built for it when I first got it, wasn’t bad looking or sounding, flowmaster 40s with side exit pipes before the tires, but I was tired of it and wanted to get a real full length exhaust. So a few weeks ago I found a muffler shop that quoted me a good price and I pulled the trigger on a new full length true dual 2.5 inch system. Only thing reused was my H pipe. Since I am intending on putting a cam in this engine fairly soon and want it to be rowdy, I went with super 10s this time. Wasn’t sure how they would sound but I am happy with them. I wanted it to be loud but not obnoxious. It’s still fairly quiet just cruising it but man, when you get on it you can hear it a mile away. I showed the guy pictures of what I wanted and he replicated it perfectly. I think it looks pretty sweet. Sounds good now but should be pretty crazy when it gets a raspy cam.
