'72 K5 - AJ's Gray Matter Build

S

Sounds perfect, the annoying thing about the cam endplay is guessing how much the gasket will compress when you tighten everything down.

Tires sound nice, those will be expensive to roast.

Oh yeah, cost of roasting will likely factor into future choices.

6/16/16 - Prime time! Yesterday morning, my daughter asks, "Dad, can we go to the shop today to finish up the engine?" Heck yeah!

Pics in progress were non-existent, but here's what we got done:
  • Pushrods and roller rockers in.
  • Set the break in valve lash. It'll change after first heat cycle or two and will need to be set again
  • ATI balancer installed
  • Copper coated intake gaskets
  • Intake from the previous motor is being reused
  • Poured in the ZPPD and breakin oil then primed the motor!
  • Moved it over to the dolly
  • Put on the valve covers with a couple of bolts each
  • Bolted up the flex plate
She looked less than thrilled here

Engine is done. Need to load it up and get it home to my garage.

Time flies!!!

.....one minute she's just a little squirt holding a shock absorber, and the next she's just about all grown up.

(and the truck STILL isn't finished)

:D

No kidding, she's grown up a lot!

We at least got some drive time in last summer....

Ooooooh. Fancy strong.

So did you figure out what's going behind it yet?

CNC milled the diameter and height of the lip on the tranny side. BOOM. Tall 4L80 adapter.

It's probably been mentioned, but do you have an "up and running" date in mind for this rig?

If I can manage to keep scope creep under control, October. The last two last big purchase to make are the trans controller and a shifter
