Or contortionists... :)

With a fixed-back seat it's a tricky set of motions to get back there even under the best conditions.
-G

I used to explore crawlspaces and attics for a living. 6-8" is more than enough room :D

Joking aside, I toyed with making mine slide forward on sliders, then using the factory pivot and latch deal.
Then I said screw it I want to go to the dunes, if you want to ride in the back seat, that's your own problem :D

Throw kids into the mix and it quickly comes back to your problem. doh!

Honestly though, you are right, it's not a huge problem which is why I never bothered to come up with a better solution. But, if I can piggy back on Greg for a better idea I'm certainly not opposed to stealing it. :)

Kids are good at small spaces.

Generally everybody ends up climbing my rear roll cage and hopping in the back seat that way because its more "fun". :dunno:

2. The passenger seat has a goofy "flip forward" feature which basically just smashes the seat into the dashboard without creating much ACTUAL room to climb into the backseat area. I know that Jeeps use a trickier system that allows the entire passenger seat to lift straight up.....then move forward (some kind of shackle-type system?) so that the entire seat gets a lot closer to the dash. This seems like it would provide MUCH better access through the passenger door for people to climb into the back area.

Oooh, I know, *revolver* shackles! Where's Marv Springer? [Showing my CK5 age there...]

More usefully, how about a captain's chair arrangement, where you pull a pin, and the seat rotates around a center post to face the rear? The seatback is then up by the dash, should give you much greater access to the back.

With my cage I discovered my truck is sort of like the anti-TARDIS, much smaller on the inside than the outside. Nevertheless, even teenagers are pretty good contortionists and/or are willing to climb in through the sides, Dukes Of Hazzard style. You may just prefer to run topless and have rear sear passengers enter and exit over the bedrails. (Short ones could be provided with a rope ladder, like those escape ladders they make for second story windows in case of fire? :D)

Just steal some stow-n-go seats from a dodge caravan. Boom boom pow

I tried to come up with something on my bronco for its suspension seats. I ended up just mounting them solid. It's a flipper so whatever, my head started to hurt trying to figure out a solution that didn't consist of re inventing the machine that invented the wheel.

fug passengers..... or anyone that wants to drive my rigs...

*coming to a shop near you*

the MAW suspension lowback in houndstooth......

Unfortunately that doesn't work well either. The seat back leans back so rotating it around it would lean into the dash, meaning the seat portion would have to get MORE in the way for that to work. Not to mention it would mean no center console.

I went with the seat sliders from Chassis Unlimited. Honestly, now that they are in, I'll probably never use them. To much of a pain in the ass for just moving the pass seat back and forth for entry, that is for sure. Maybe I'll move the drivers seat forward if the wife is driving or something. Other than that, I don't see myself ever using them. They'd prolly go in the tuition pile, if they weren't already part of the seat equation.

Yup, that is another requirement. It's got to be super simple to use. Unlatch and push. If I've got to pull and replace pins, or lift the seat out or any solution like that, I know I'd never use it either.
