old picture, looks like a blazer and not a skeleton.

I think he just puts those 5 gallon buckets under there to show off.

Maybe paint em a brighter color Greg.

Jerk.

Ok I'm done throwing a fit LOL.

Greg I think that I would bring the tank further back. Taper it up at the end like the factory tank. I really think it could hang down 3 or 4 " and you would have zero issues

OK..... here you go. "Old Photo.....Less Offensive Buckets"

I'll play around with some more tank ideas over the weekend. 30 gallons seems like a lot, but even Eric thinks I'm too optimistic hoping for 10MPG....so which is it?? :haha:

Never had a problem with the 26gal capacity in my K5 and I know it got less than 10mpg. Did fine in my crew cab with 20gal until I did a 12hr day bashing snow. On a typical Blazer Bash run 20gal was plenty.

Just imagine having another 150 cu in of motor drinking from it at WOT!!! I think 31 is the new 21.... :haha:

I got 5 mpg on sunday playing. Went through 16 gal in like 3 hours.

You should go bigger :D

Yeah, I don't really see a downside to having the largest possible tank in the space I've got.

I can fill up for long highway jaunts.... and drive for a few hours at a time without stopping, or I can run it half-full (or is that half-empty) if I want to save 100Lbs....

On the 2002 Trip to Moab from CA......we had to stop for fuel like every 2 hours because of my truck. It gave my ears a rest from the "Swamper Howl" of my tires.... but I think the rest of the group was getting annoyed with it.

I agree with blazin, going forward and making it long is a good idea you could get some fuel up there to make up for the tank not hanging as low as stock. I wouldnt go back down once it passed the axle going forward, pretty easy for fuel to get stuck up there and become useless.

I'm on my phone so this will get funny quickly

My previous Duramax had a 48 gallon tank under it, it went from the middle of the front door to 2 inches in front of the axle.

Lots of fuel was nice parking on a hill with a 1/4 tank would say it was bone dry and empty or full, depending which way it was pointing, that was annoying, the truck would lean to the left when fueled up though hahah

Greg, I know your pain with your previous constant fill ups. I only have one 16 gal saddle tank. Thankfully with my EZ EFI i can get as high as 15mpg highway. That makes for fill ups safely every 175 miles or about every 2-2.5hrs of constant driving. Kind of a nice break to stretch the legs.

Whatever happened to Burt?

My tank's 20 gallons and only hangs below the frame a little. Remember, up tight to the frame and body makes the filler hose and fuel lines less than fun to route.

A little effort last night with some old cardboard boxes....

Started off with a 10" deep tank to get about 20 gallons in the large rear portion... Then brought the tank in substantially on both sides to make room for a 3" dual exhaust. If I run the tank the full 61" length it should still yield 35 gallons. :waytogo:

Here's the side view of the tank hanging down.... (2" below framerail)

Not terrible. It's a starting point anyway...

So... Add another inch or two of depth? That's 5 more gallons....

If your at your goal now no.

It gives plenty of room for a skidplate apparatus to protect said tank. Which I imagine will hang down another 1 to 2 inches.

That tank looks fairly simple to build it maintains capacity and room for exhaust has good clearance. Rock n roll man

Oh better figure out filler neck and all that other jazz now sometimes that screws everything up
