72 k5, sons first truck build.(officially NOT mine now..)

now all the finish work begins:popcorn:

Well my son decided to opt out of the diploma since he's messed up his chance at the area schools....:dunno: so we talked and the truck is mine to do with as I please now:confused: I guess it's fine but not what I had expected.... so I have a few options to consider..... I'm going to make a poll if I can remember how and go from there while I think about it..... tough decision really.

That's crazy. My folks threatened to take my truck from me if I didn't graduate. Needless to say, I got my diploma! I don't know how else to motivate him, but the best possible outcome would be to do whatever it takes for him to get his diploma.

One thing is for sure, just my opinion, if you keep it, you should for sure ditch the skull wheels!

I don't know if I would finish it as originally planned but I'd get it running and driving and then sell it.

Sorry to hear about your son and hopefully he gets his $hit together soon.

all the area schools have said he could go there, but he missed the new student open enrollment deadline... the one he was in by our house said NO MORE. :doah: So I guess it is what it is...:dunno: 5 credits from a diploma..?

I myself am voting on swapping the motor and all its accessories to the burb, wheels and tires(yes the skulls will eventually go:rolleyes:) , and then put a CL carb intake and dizzy on the burb motor in the k5. Fix the rust since I have the panels and tools. A single stage paint job to make it look good... then put it on a few sites for $7000 OBO and see what people offer. Not many around here at all.... let alone with the rust fixed already... In fact its the only one I know of in our area that isn't a cut up mud bogger.

then I can also sell the new in box soft top, all the new door hardware (whatever I don't NEED for it), and a few other things I have for it separately too. If I end up with a total of $6K from the whole works I'll be happy. Its not in bad shape so will be a decently nice truck if put together.......

I put the poll up to see if im not thinking correctly:dunno:

its all there and Any info needed is in this thread.... The only thing that I want is the crate motor for the burb. burb motor only has 118k on it so isn't wore out yet and will be the one going with the k5. let me know

That sucks with him Being so close. There's always ged. If you finish all the work you can get more than 7 out of it. Blazer prices have gone up a lot in the last couple years.

Yeah, no.

I'd love a first gen but no, those days are gone.

You forgot one in your poll. Sell as is to an awesome ck5'er for a good deal and part of the deal is build tread so we can see finished.

Curt, zimmer, mr clean are you listening?

Those both kinda sum up where I'm at.

Ever since I saw this one in my little town I get a little fluffy in my nether regions for one. Then I see the trials and tribulations people have trying to find parts for them and I deflate a bit.

I have all the parts.... New weather stripping, all new door internal hardware, all new panels needed to fix the rust that's evident, soft topper top(black w/ tinted windows), aftermarket gauges.... all I can remember about the boxed stuff for now.

already done is,
Sandblasted, epoxy primered, and rustoleum painted frame.
New stock rear springs with diy4x shackle flip.
New TC EZ ride front 4" lift springs.
All new brake system- lines, calipers, drum hardware, master cyl, etc.
Poly body mounts, and suspension bushings.
4 core radiator when motor was installed.
Ball joints, front wheel bearings.
Rebuilt and painted th350.(less than 1000 mi, 2k max)

currently in/on but subject to change...

305/75/17 Nitto terra grapplers on the skull wheels:rolleyes:.
GM goodwrench 260hp crate engine.
Wiend intake, Holley truck avenger carb.
Full MSD street fire ignition w/ dizzy, 6AL box, coil, wires.

all with same miles as tranny . He drove it around town and to school for half a school year and most of the following summer. OD wasn't hooked up :dunno: so not exact but not many miles.

Not a sale add because its in the wrong section, but if I left it the way it is right now I'd entertain the idea of letting it all go:whistle: to the right person (CK5'er)for $7500. $5000 if I put the burb motor in it and carb it with CL stuff to make it run and swap the wheels/ tires from burb to k5.

for an extra $500 I'd throw in 4- 20' sticks of 2" DOM, 15' of 4"x .25" flat steel, and 2- 20' sticks of 3/4" DOM to finish the cage. and 2- 1/16" 4'x8' sheets of steel diamond plate for interior/bumper use.. all Free with the $7500 deal...

was driven home as is but not street able in current condition due to shocks, gauges etc

^ Dammit!

Where in Iowa are you?

I'm supposed to go pick up my Datsun 260Z project next weekend.:doah:I'd possibly be killed or worse if I bring home two projects in two weeks.
