Baffled. I have spark and fuel - no start. I cannot envision a scenario where the timing changed just from sitting. The only thing left is the carb. I probably need to pull it off, open up the bowls and clean them out, drain all the old gas (thereby throwing away the 5 gallons I added to the tank today), and then see what happens. Nothing else makes sense. These engines are mindlessly simple.....spark, fuel, air........spark verified good. Air verified good by the fact I am alive while breathing it. The only thing left is fuel quality/delivery. A buddy called earlier about this evening's plans and I told him what was going on......he recommended I try SeaFoam......maybe I'll run to Napa and read the can tomorrow, but generally speaking I am not a fan of any type of snake oil...........

Check the timing once more, check the firing order, check the float bowls. Your gas isn’t that old. My money is on ignition.

Squirt some starting fluid in it. If it tries to start, your problem is fuel, if not, the problem is spark.

I put the SeaFoam in the tank hoping it would stabilize the existing fuel (figuring my 5 fresh gallons would also help). To make a long story short, I simply kept pouring a few ounces of fuel into the carb, it would start, run for a few seconds, and then die. I went through that cycle about 15 times before (I guess) I cleared the old fuel from the line/carb/etc. and then it ran perfect. I let it idle for a few minutes (to take video to send to my bros on the east coast), and put it in gear - nothing. It's probably too low on Tranny fluid.....next weekend I will deal with that. It runs, so I am back where I was two and a half years ago..........roughly. Oh well, at least it runs! I gotta say, with those straight pipes (cut right after the transfer case) that sound is just.........freakin awesome. It's a sound not a smell, but still.......it reminded me of one of my favorites movie lines - "I love the smell of napalm in the morning."

Oh yeah, I return from my annual 'Boy's Weekend', held this year in The Great State of Texas, to find these parts waiting outside the shop.........

Martin,

It's the bumpers, door panels, and the trim for the tailgate. One set of brackets for the front bumper will not be here for about a week, and the top trim piece (over the tailgate handle is back-ordered about 12 weeks, but aside from that, I got what I could installed. Loving seeing it slowly come back to life.......

Guys,

While looking at pictures of Blazers (shocker to all of you guys, right.....) I came across this random website called Redbubble (redbuddle.com). If you go on there and search for K5, you will find a ton of items. I ordered a t-shirt, throw pillow (yeah, the wife will roll with that one), a poster, and even a K5 bathmat. There is a ton of cool stuff. I will follow up with how the whole thing works once I receive the items, but I thought it was cool to be able to buy damn near any K5 Blazer item you wanted. They have phone cases, but they are soft cases, I'm an Otterbox guy - I drop my phone all the time......

Man does life move fast. Believe it or not, I am still working on it. A few months ago I took it on the longest drive it's had since starting this build TEN YEARS ago - I took it to get the exhaust done. It felt so good to drive it a 20-25 mile round trip. I have the seats (stock) at a shop being covered in the houndstooth (stock) pattern. Before the Easter gathering today I was troubleshooting a brakelight/horn issue and realized that the CPP steering column was a big mistake, it is a POS. I am going to call The Truck Shop in Orange tomorrow and order a remanufactured GM steering column. So, a few steps forward, a few steps back. Life has been crazy, new activities (Jiu Jitsu, yes at 55) have been taking a lot of time, and the same shit we all deal with have brought this to a crawl for 6-7 years, but I am absolutely determined to do a Cruise Night in my town this summer. I'll peruse the threads and see what's going on, but I hope everyone is well. This is a great forum and I am very appreciative of the amazing support everyone has given throughout the journey.

Seats are in (front, still kicking around whether or not to carpet the rear). Got the ORIGINAL steering column completely rebuilt by OC Steering Columns (good peeps, and right around the corner from the 'Truck Shop in Orange' which I have given LARGE sums of cash to over the years, so of course I stopped and checked it out) and it is installed. This week I am getting the wheels powder coated and ordering the 35's. Hope to have those on within a week or two (depending how long it takes to get the tires). Call me crazy, but even though I have the original hardtop (in solid condition), I decided to do a Softtopper. I just think that it will better fit the overall vibe I am aiming for......at least for now. Hard top is not going anywhere. Unbelievably, I am almost "done" (really, are we ever totally done........), but. I'll put up some pictures in the next week or two.
