Rent one, your back (and your friends) will thank you.
That's what I did the few times I was swapping or transporting one ton diffs. Hell even 1/2 ton diff's can be a bear! The rental used to cost me about $28 for the day.
I was swapping 1/2 ton axles for 3/4 ton axles in my buddies 1985 K10, and he was helping me unload the axles and other random parts. I had grabbed the rear 10 bolt (minus axle shafts, and brakes) and was hauling it off. He asked me how to move the front (complete) 10 bolt axle. I was joking and said: "just grab it you pussy". I'll be damned but he thought I was serious and did. I knew he was strong, but was impressed by him carrying that heavy awkward bastard.

. Between the 2 of us and a hell of alot of adrenaline we lifted the 600 pound monster off him and he got away with a bruise. But As they say if your gonna be stupid you better be tough
