Mil tires suck at traction in everything. G-head, ask me how i know, or how many times those POS tires have made multi-vehicle recovery necessary.:D If you want cheapies fpr a quick fix they'll get you by. But youll be much happier (and less f****d) if you hold out for something better. just the .02

Well that works too :P

that a 530 area code? I will shoot you a call here later, unless you can text?

So Found some 37 TSL's for sale for cheap so went out to the guys house to get them. He wanted 220 for em. Had a hellofa time trying to get the tires off the axle he had.

Freakin Mopar trash axle from 1960 had reverse lugs on one side, and regular on the other! so 2 broken studs later we switched it in reverse and good to go:rolleyes:

Stuck 2 that were flat on the compressor at his house and one of the tires had a huge slit on the inside. Dude felt bad since i drove out and did all that with him so he hooked me up.

He had some 36x14.5x16.5 SS tsl radials on 16.5 8 lug black crawler wheels on the side yard and he gave me those instead for 200 bucks  So im happy!

Cant run my beadlocks, might hold on to em. for now i will run these.

2 tires wernt seated. one wheel was off... Soo starter fluid did the trick on one, and i went to town on the other tire/wheel and got the wheel on one bead, but cant get it past about 5/8 the way on the other side. I need a big tire spoon...:( So we will see if i do that or just break down and go to les schwab.

Ended up breaking down and going to les schwab. They did it for free!

Guy told me i probably would have had the tire on but that i was doing it backwards :doah: Should have set rear bead then worked on front since it has the inner dip. O well lol.

Im all set and ready to go... but of course its raining today and and tommorow.... Sooo im gonna tear into it friday and hopefully have it done by Saturday.

nice man. i'm in for the pics after the swap. hopefully this weekend is as good as last weekend for weather..

AXLES ARE IN!

wooo..

Had a buddy come over. Took about 4 1/2 hours to get it all done. Used penetrating oil on all bolts day before, morning before and before starting. I belive it helped alot!

Didnt really run into too many snags.

Heres the pics.

good bye stock axles.

I need to trim a wholeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee lot of fender. It rubs the front fangs turning on flat ground lol.. Truck is alot faster than it was before. Ratio is better.

bleeder on pass side front was stripped and couldnt bleed it.... so i need to somehow get it off. I tried vice grips, but i think i need to pull the tire off and really get in there.

Overall i like it a whole lot more. These tires are practically silent compared to the thornbirds.

Thats funny, my 74 is the same color right down to the diff covers (I didn't paint them)... all one ton.
Looks good!

haha nice! got a pic of it?

Got the brake bleeder out today. just needed some heat and a tight squeeze with the vice grips ;)

Tommorow is D day for the fenders...

Went down the street to the river to hang out and eat lunch. Snapped a quick pic. I am very happy with the way it sits.... Just need to pull my top off and finish the cage

Been out to a few places with new axles/tires and WOW... Wish i would have done that the first day!
I just need lockers now, but even w/o them i was crusing good over the rock piles.

I picked up another set of 36x 14.5 tsl's for 100 bucks for spares!

Cleaned up my engine and fixed some issues. It looks alot better now.

here is how it looked when i got it......

She sounds pretty good!!!!

Looks better, but I sure hope you tightening up that alt belt...looks a little loose in the pic.

Rene

Yeah, that turned out a lot straighter than mine did. What did you use to do it with?

thanks!

i used a 6in cut off disc on my grinder for the outer fender, then used the sawzall for the inner. I used the sawzall on the front fangs first and it was kinda sketchy and hard to keep straight.
