fml doing this anywere but at the shop..... ive been coping with a crappy grinder, and cutting with a sawzall, and tacking with a 30 year old stick welder.....

got dash bar, windshiel bars, and the 2 bars from a to b pillar done

Hell ya. Its hot here too. Too hot to be working on the rig(at least mine).
Its pool time.

MAN.

i HATE using "hand" tools for cage work!

6 1/2 hours and i didnt even do all i wanted to!

i still need to run a bar level with the bedsides from b to c pillar.

And then i have 110 in left over. Im thinking bars from b pillar to center of truck behind front seats, in a V shape. Thoughts? ideas?

Anyone with bars behind there seats comment on getting passengers back there?

Damm, your doing good. I can't get motivated to work on the burb. I'm glad you can work. I can only get out of the pool to watch hockey and get another brew. Well, back to Tue pool to cool off. Your kicking ass!

I made some sketches of my future cage and had a few ideas about the bar behind the driver and getting passengers in the back seat.

First off, I figured they would have to enter through the center consule area. I have a back seat but only 1 seat belt in the center. I won't have any more than 1 person in the back. I was thinking run a tube across the floor as low as possible similar to a seat mount tube,it may need a bend in the center for the tranny hump. Then drop 2 vertical tubes in the middle between the driver & shotgun seats approximately 16 inches apart ( this measurement was shoulder to shoulder of the 2 front seats.. Now you can squeeze in between the 2 bars to enter the back seat and also add horizontal tubes for a shoulder harnesses in the front seats.
It would look like a H behind each front seat. In my design the tops of the H would intersect with supporting tubes running from the dash V to the back. In other words HVH The top left side of the V is in line to the top Right of the driver H, and the top right of the V is in line to the top left of shotgun H.

.. And Man is it difficult to describe a cage idea without pics!

I thought about that, but an H doesnt have too much in the way of strength from the side, were a flop would happen. So if you dropped it hard on one side it would just fold over. Allthough that is the easiest option for passengers.

this is what im thinkin. My cage is identicle to this, minus the V in the rear tieing the top in. I havnt done that yet. Im doing the bars on the bottom near the bedsides, and debating on the v at the b pillar

The H had harness seat belts in mind. I would add gussets to make the H stronger .

After seeing the pics this just came to mind:

Here is another idea if you want to add 5 point harness seat belts:
