The T-case in N thing is actually reasonable, as NP203's are famous for having maladjusted shifters. Though you should "feel" the tranny being loaded if that was the case.

You mentioned rebuilding the "front half"; do you mean the motor was out, and if so, maybe the torque converter didn't get bolted back to the flexplate?

Otherwise, assuming no simple stuff was forgotten, yep, check fluid level, and then expect to drop the tranny and have it rebuilt. For many of us (like me!) they are a black box.

"front end rebuild" was just cosmetic panel replacement and engine components but no actual separation of motor and trans

It still looks pretty rough, but I have complete faith in you making it look good after the seeing the rest of the work you have done.

Rough is an understatement... it's a friggin automotive abortion, but it'll get there. I'm only working with cheap tools and it definately shows in the finished product. Thanks for the support.

just dropped another C note on rear quarter panels!

I want to say that's too bad, because I was hoping to see an SM465 swap, but you have enough work on your hands, that was probably nice to find an easy fix.

Whats everyones thought on painting the hood satin black when it gets to that point? Saw another Orange bowtie on here with one and it looked secsay! Or is it too Mopar (don't wanna get too far from early 70's chevy color schemes)?

All one color looks good to everyone while a flat black hood only looks good to a select few.

Yeah, if you want a second color, go with a stock two tone paint job and put white in the middle.

I'm not sure if it's my truck you're talking about, but I thought it might look good with my color, and the guy helping me with body work and paint said, "my hood wasn't perfect and it would help hide some of the imperfections if it wasn't painted all orange." So, two reasons for it. I'm happy but it might not be for everyone. Also, Mine doesn't sit in the sun a lot and if it did the black may not hold up that well:dunno:.

Murphy's Law. changing oil under the rig Saturday, reached behind me for a tool. sliced my left hand on the rocker panel edge. 14 stitches later I'm back to welding and grinding. pics up later of the metal work. only got a pic of the Docs handywork after he put my half amputated finger back on. :weapon10: It's on now K5, we got business to settle.

passenger side part is welded to the door jam and just needs some filler to smooth it out.

cut away the rust for the replacement panel
sanded and painted as much of the inner panel as i could reach.

tacked in the fuel cap. never seen a filler neck there on a K5 before. :)

You should have left the fuel door there just to mess with people.

Martin

You have ambition like no other I will admit. Or, maybe I give up to easy. I couldnt see myself doing all that work, but it is looking great.
