73 K20....crossmember time

Hey guys. First of all thanks Matt for checking in on me. Also a very big thanks to norcal chris with the red jeep. He wasn't out there but coordinated help.

I ran the fordyce creek trail this past weekend and was dead in the water due to a collections of small issues. During that time I got separated from my group and there was a miscommunication and I was left by myself for 16 hours. I posted in the fordyce section of pirate with little battery life left. I realized I was in danger and it was only hours from becoming an emergency situation. I've met some of the most dedicated, kind hearted people out on the trail this weekend and they beat there trucks to get me out. Unfortunately I only have a handful of pics as I was using my phone as a lifeline. I never thought fordyce would be such a lonely trail.

I have been off the trail since 5 am yesterday. Very beat up, cuts and bruised. The truck is hammered. No 1 straight section of bodywork anymore but I don't care. It came down to survival so I did what I had to.

Full story to come soon. Waiting to get to a computer.

Glad you're alright and they found the dog. The rest of the **** is replaceable

I still want to know how you got left out there :angry1: I don't know who those guys are but they can suck a bag a dicks.

Didn't he go up there with that Ryan Maggy guy with the bullet holes in his tailgate? Or were they the rescuers?

it was and I don't I know the half of it

Yeah it was hell. I really wish i had pics but like i mentioned the phone was a lifeline at that point.

Yes. Him, one of my coworkers and few other fullsize guys.

Im going to start a thread right now about the whole situation to air things out and get ideas...or atleast just give someone something interesting to read. lol.

I heard Brian was using a lot of skinny pedal towing your ass out of there while you had no power steering getting your ass kicked :eek1: I would love to see a video of that, Brian loves the skinny pedal :haha:

Damn sorry to hear 16 hrs left out there! I would never leave another person I go some where with out there like that. Think after a hour max they might think wtf where is he at! But glad you made it back and you have learned what alot of guy's don't know, be prepared for anything!!!!!

I'm surprised he had cell signal at all, most of those trails are dead zones. That's why the HAM radios are so widely used in these parts.

Sounds like a pretty bad experience, glad it all turned out okay.

I don't understand how some people could have such disregard towards others. Must not have been the kind of friends you want to have.

I haven't heard the whole story about those guys that "left him" but they're a minority around here if they did, wheelers just don't do that **** to each other. In fact other wheelers drove up (hours) to get him out.

I totally agree, the type of people you normally meet on the trail will typically do anything they can to help you. That really applies to anybody that enjoys outdoors/camping/wheeling etc.

It was my saving grace. I lucked out on the service big time. I will start my HAM studying soon. Its a necessity. I also need to get my CB in and working. could have helped some.

Yeah man it was rough as hell. im glad too.

I couldn't leave someone behind. Its absolutely not ok. I think there was a douche guy in the group who told them i was ok. Texts are surfacing in from the pirate thread already.

Even though i had this one really bad experience, im not deterred. Ill build a better mouse trap. The truck could have done the trail, just had a major issue. Id like to give back to the trail by doing maintenance when my rig is ready.

I kinda looked into it and blew it off. i now know its must have. Not that hard of a test. They say the history questions are the hardest.

it's not hard, just a formality to get a license. CalStar membership is the other must have, did that already though.

after reading your whole story you posted I know i will pack every dang thing possible for my first trip when I finally get here lifted (started today with axle swap) and Ford shock towers.
