To be honest, I don't even think the body damage makes me cringe after all that awful fender hacking.

I know this, I still don't understand how that caused it to get into your carburetor, what was the entry point?

Martin

There's a line that goes up to the carb from the cannister. it's like a 3/8 line in the front of the carb. that's the way it came in. I know it blew out the filter paper that's supposed to keep the charcoal in. Still confused myself on how exactly it happened. All I know is it did it.

Yeah, but that is just a vacuum port. How is it getting from there, to inside your carburetor?

Martin

Or where "inside" your carburetor are you finding the contents of the charcoal canister?

It was essentially everywhere except for the inlet for the fuel. I noticed when it was flooding really badly that the vacuum line was pissing gas so i took the line off the canister to make the fuel go down that way instead of onto the hot motor.

At first i though it was something related to the creek crossing...maybe little river rock stuff but it was way too consistent and broke down just as carbon does. I also noticed the fuel filter to be clean and the fuel inlet to be clean as well.

My guess is either the pressure blew it into the carb or the excess gas was carrying it up into the carb. I would imagine the charcoal bits would float. It was enough to fill the palm of your hand it locked the float down, which had to be gently pried up with a screwdriver.

Still odd. Never seen anything like it. Wont happen again lol!

Heres the carnage...

Got the truck back on the small tires in the garage. Time to really go over this thing in some of the areas that drove me crazy. Im reluctant to try to get it going again before i address each and every issue. It may take some time but its the right thing to do. Im trying to drum up some money for a gear swap on the 13 bolt, that way i can learn how to change gears out of the truck, then ill do the dana 60 and throw the locker in at that time along with ORDs double seals. Still hunting around for a tool box. Found a few but im picky. I also found a 32 spline tranny so i may snatch that up next weekend. Ive been looking for over a month for one and this is the first so i need to jump on it. Comes with a np208 attached as well. Maybe i can swap input shafts and give my current one new life...

Looked like a clean rig. As a member of the rust belt, I cringe seeing good metal being crunched like that. We need to start sending our Swiss cheese tubs out that way for you guys to bang into rocks. But it's your rig so do as you will

What does that even mean?

You got hurt feelings and told a mod?

Seems like simple English to me. It means that if its not a constructive comment then it has no place here. Im fine with a little bit of "you need to redo that" but i thought the comment was unprovoked and out of line. I dont rag on anyone else here so why do i need to get ragged on? Its fine by me if you dont like my truck...stay out of my thread as opposed to adding negativity to it.

If you've got nothing nice to say...

I understand to a certain point. I know the rig was clean before hand but when your getting dragged off a trail you dont have time to say be nice. Id send you my nice tub but it would just rust to death out there...two way street.

I can see that making you cringe but we either use them or watch them get sold to junkyards for $300 where they're smashed and melted into Kia's. Rust free square bodies are dime a dozen and with the smog laws becoming even more strict they end up in the junkyards or sold off as non-runners for cheap.

I agree, keep it constructive.

I'd rather see them used for something other than Kia's :waytogo::popcorn:

Lol. My thread is full of hundreds and hundreds of posts of people saying that they don't like the way I did something.

Never have I reported someone....

But in his defense, he is always very polite to everyone and says nothing close to negative. If he doesn't want negative comments in his thread so be it.

Not sure about the reporting part though. I've seen a lot worse said.

Naw it's cool, I already have rust free tub sitting in my shop, and I don't drive my trucks in the winter. The body damage does give the truck some character, but usually it's one a trip not the whole thing in one trip. I know it wasn't running etc so it's understandable.

You've obviously never wheeled with me :pimp:

That was my point, I agree on the rest.

If he never made the comment it wouldn't have ever happened. End of story.

Im not a fan of the smarmy pompous remarks I get from purists so maybe itll be a lesson...if you come in here acting like a fool you'll get a smack. You guys are making the decision to come to my build thread and talk trash, its easily avoided by hitting close tab.
