^^^this.

I watched too many of the Neb. guys with longer wheel base walk up stuff that me and my buddy either could not make or took way too long.

Exactly. I climbed stuff with my stupid 3+3 that my well built Blazer struggles with.

It's a damn shame, and it makes me envious of the John's.....and that's not something anyone should be doing.

Thats true. Its the parts that cost a bunch which i obviously already have. Stock would be 131.5"? Thats a bit too long for around here....i mean its do able but i see the longbeds get hung up on everything.

Im at 108 right now. Maybe 115 is best?

If you bob the frame right behind the rear spring hanger, it will get around just fine.

Maybe it's different out your way, but jeeps are not the answer where we wheel. I have never seen something wheel so effortlessly as I have seen in those long wheelbase trucks.

Yeah i agree. I mean i walk up stuff that jeeps have a tough time with but i meant dimension wise the trails are tailored to them. If you start getting into longbed territory out here it starts narrowing down the trails you can do. I think id go with the 110 to 117 range.

Just talked to a friend who runs the same trails around here. He runs 125 and says its about right but given the choice he'd go to 120.

I think he is saying, maybe just do the bob first then see how you like the wheel base. You can always go back and cut the frame later.

Ah yeah i see now. i still need to be able to do 55mph down the freeway without the driveshaft coming off, which means i need it rebuilt and still balanced. Dont want to do that more than once preferably. i guess i could put it together and see how it looks.

I dont plan on running a bed, well a factory one anyway. Probably going for the tube/flatbed style so no worries on wheel well location. Id like to hang skins off of it at some point for legal purposes.

Had I not seen them smoke everyone with their wheelbase, I probably wouldn't even be chiming in on this topic. But they down right embarrassed me with how easy they made a couple obstacles look. Sure I did just as good on others, but man my buddy in his Cherokee on 42's got smoked by a leaf sprung truck on 40's and 37's. Changed my perspective that day for sure.
