73 K20....crossmember time

Hello hello hello

Is there anyone in there?

Just nod if you can hear me.

Lol.

Does anyone know if diy4x spring hangers for the front will work in the stock location? I need to temporarily use them there and then maybe swap to 52s...

Hello hello hello

We can still hear you [Nod, nod, nod]

I just don't have any of the answers that you need.

you know my vote and you've seen how well I can roll paint on :D

I gotta go back a few pages I guess, not sure what the hell happened or where it all changed

You gunna make Rubicon 2016? lol

Hahaha! What kind of paint did you use?

Cliff notes: Cracked frame badly, was stripping down to fix, found 73' cab and chassis for $150, decided to go legit pre smog and now here we are lol.

Yeah im sure i will. Im not making any wild changes to the drive train or suspension so it should mostly be bolt in.

Yes you can use them with stock springs

Ok sweet thanks!

Just thought id throw some pink floyd out there!

I hate wiring. My k5 is a wiring joke.

Lol mine is terrible. Looks like someone methed it up good. I have everything from the fuse block out for the tbi set up so that should make things easier.

not really, they only mix water base stuff
You can mix some of the colors yourself, but I went with off the shelf in case I ever wanted to touch up the truck and didn't have any left over. It's the one downfall to it, being limited on colors.

Damn...so that would be enamel you used?

Ive been hoarding parts. I just got a new miller welding helmet, a cheap aluminum water pump, front spring hangers, some of those special dana 60 shock mounts and i think for xmas i got the engine mounts, poly body mounts and b52s from diy4x...Should keep me busy. I intend i getting some shock hoops for the front, probably the WFO ones. The k5 is super close to going outside, still pulling a few wires, i have a seat and the bench seat to remove and ill cut the old cage out and try to flip it on cl maybe. I need to work on stripping the rest of the dash out tonight so that the only thing left is the column.

I want to play around with some hoops as well, did you get Kert's lower shock mounts that are notched for the inner C? I have those sitting on my bench at home.

Yeah i got those same notched mounts. They were like half price of WFO's. Ive looked high and low about the shock hoops. Theres not a lot of info here about them and i think thats due to the possible steering issue. I noticed ruffstuffs were 20% off but i dont like the swept back design. I think WFO's are the best bang for buck and probably the easiest to work with. Im wondering how much of a steering issue its going to cause...i think i need them in front of me to see what ill need to do.

I thought about running over and asking Dan if I can try a pair for mockup and return them if they don't work. They also sell the shock tower mounts......http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/STOWER12.html

Yeah that would be cool. I think in the long run i want make an engine cage so the hoops will be prefect for that. The WFO ones caught my eye because they're cheaper then most other places but they seem to include all the mounting stuff.
