73 K20....crossmember time

This a one. It didn't like any clamping force so I made the socket instead of paying 60 to 100 bucks for one. You have to use that nut as the clamp to the plate, which I've also had to make lol.

Why did you hafta adjust this nut? Wasn't it already set up from the previous installation? :dunno:

So. Clocking the 208. @GWeakland620 @82355

Let me first start by saying holy shit.

I'm whooped. It was like a bar fight. It sucks not having someone around to help. A lift would also be revolutionary in this process.

I started with the most aggressive position, we'll call that flat. After getting everything covered in rtv I found it just wasn't going to happen even with the 1 inch body lift. I believe it may be able to be done by taking a sledge to the bottom floor pan or cutting it. It wouldn't be a whole lot as near as I can tell. Maybe a 3x4 area? I didn't feel like doing that.

It's obviously something I could do but I want what's reasonable and if that means that my tcase is up above the crossmember and I can achieve a little better angle than flat for my future front driveshaft, then so be it.

I dropped the tcase 2 or 3 times. Would it have killed them to make one ****ing part of the 208 flat?

So I switched the position before the rtv sealed up and I was really happy with the results. To me, it's the flat I wanted.

I'll let the pics speak for themselves but with the addition of a small skid plate I think I'm going to feel real good about the setup. At the least it'll hold me over for the next year or so for a doubler.

If anyone wants measurements or more pics let me know.

Nice!

And that was an actual question about needing to adjust the nut. Did the hydroboost assembly come disassembled? :dunno:

Oops I missed that. Its an assembled unit but theres this big nut thats on the ass end up the thing. Apparently its knurled in such a fashion that it grips whay you mount it to....kinda like teeth. Having not seen a truck that came with hydroboost im curiois of how it mounts. Ive come up with a plate for it to mount to which will be just fine. Ill post a pic of my unfinished socket.

See the nut? It's the 4 sided bugger on the right where the socket ends. The socket needs more clearance for the rod. Had I made it longer it would have been better but I can make it work.
