73 K20....crossmember time

Well I'm trying to put the b pillar in today. It's amazingly off. I don't see the point in putting rosette holes in a tube when you'll end up cutting it off to make it fit? Assembled the b pillar lower length is 65.375".....that's 2" and 7/8ths off.

Much like most of the off topic posting in this thread.

Yep, yep. That's certainly true. IMO, the reason this thread gets hit with such drivel is that @wetoolowdingbangow participates and encourages it. If it's bothersome (to him), we can move it elsewhere. This forum has plenty of drivel threads. But this thread's traffic would cut by 90% :haha:

I assume it's a two piece B pillar and it's too wide?

3 pieces. The 2 uprights, which are sleeved and then the mid section bar, which had the rosettes. I cut it down and it fits perfect now. Just don't see why it should be that far off, not to mention eliminating 1.5 rosette holes on both sides...

Ah so it's too tall

It's basically a metal strip and a piece of spaghetti string around it and that's it right? Peel out, push window out carefully?
Yeah, plus or minus the metal.

The sketi strip keeps the outer seal pushed against the glass and the frame. With it out, the window(s) will slip past the outer seal.

Back in sometimes just a dab of soapy water. If you dont have a window hook, a brake hook will allow you to slip the glass back behind the rubber

Just ordered 18 feet of domo tube. I came to the realization that once the b pillar is in, thats it. So much for waiting to put an X and a harness bar in it. Oh well itll be done and strong as hell now.

Gonna finish up welding it tomorrow or at least what I have. Ill probably jump on doing brake lines and getting some v belts on until I get my tubes.

I've been sitting here trying to figure out what domo tube was. I thought it was still window talk... Lol

My .02 on the window install/removal
@bent72 nailed it. Don't freak out. be patient and if it's not going smooth start over. A couple friends that aren't too high strung are good help too. If you rub dish soap on the seal and have a spray bottle with soapy water it makes it slide in real easy. I use a contractor string line for a rope. I don't claim to be an expert but that's how I do it and I haven't cracked one yet.

Haha awesome thanks!

Hopefully itll go smooth. I think ill get a helping hand over just in case.

I forgot to order harness brackets. Ruffstuff actually makes them...same thing as a limit strap bracket.

I was going to just buy tabs from another company...its amazing what some people charge to ship. They wanted $18 to ship and were 50 miles apart if that...ruffstuff was $8!! Ruff got my money.
