73 K20....crossmember time

There going to be any pictures of this said roll cage??

Yeah soon. I realized I made a small mistake before fully welding a cross tube and now it's back out and re correcting. The feet at the bottom closed in over a quarter inch on me as well. My fault for not watching. It fits like a glove so I was more worried about the harness bar expanding the hoop. The hilift will fix that.

Dude hi lifts and ratchet straps were built for that crap.

If anybody razzes you over it just look at em like they are a moron and say " Have you seriously never heard of prestressing integral tube structures?????"

Haha you're absolutely right!

I've been shying away from ta king pictures of the 4 ratchet straps I have hanging from the ceiling. Wouldn't know own what to do without them!

It's all about prestressing lol. Gets em nice and ready for a stressful life.

I actually kicked those bars up about 2 degrees. I didn't like how they ended so close to each other on the harness tube. In my mind it's way stronger to weld the tubes separated from each other rather then butt because you're losing that seam that could be welded to the harness bar. I'm sure a pro could melt it all together but I'd rather go for simple.

Is the photo or is it offset a hair to the driver side? What I can see of the bends look really nice though!

It was slightly off in this pic. Fixed now.

The benbs aren't bad...I didn't do them though lol. It's a diy kit. It looked like it would deal with one rollover so I'm building it up a bit to be able to deal with more abuse...not that I plan on rolling but it's cheap insurance.

Shoot that picture is deceiving. It's pretty damn close to be right. The driver side bar is slightly off center on the harness bar and off by maybe 1 degree. I'm thinking I'll call it good. I shouldn't notices it when rock crawling.

Furthermore black paint matters and hides everything.

You end up w/ a harness, those are positioned pretty well for a horizontal bar to support those. Make sure if you head is anywhere near the diagonals that you pad them. Don't need to be knocking yourself out.

Exactly! Yeah Ill probably pad them even if I can't reach them. Never know.

This thing is working me. I used the hilift to spread it back open on the bottom. It worked but now it's so tight it won't come out of the truck.

It was a shit load of pressure to get it apart...the reason I did that is I need to do the bottom bars now. If I un bolt it obviously it comes out but I'm a little worried that if I put these last set of bars in its not coming out. I could be wrong but it's not as simple as taking the back glass out and fully welding it. I could sacrifice a little by enlarging the bottom pads holes so that they have a better chance of lining up with less stress.

That seems to be the answer. This is way more difficult than need be.

I liked the way Kurt does it, hole saw the floor and drop the legs through for welding/paint.

Keep in mind you want that harness bar right below your shoulders, not sure what your plans are....

Lookin good

Got any pics of the inside? Easier to see what you're describing.

Yeah...so I'm replicating the top tubes to the bottom essentially. Youll see those footpads...those are what needed spreading apart. I'm thinking by opening up the holes for those in the body I'll not have to stretch the feet so much, subsequently locking the cage in place.
