73 k5 blank slate

The part number for that socket is

OTC 7080

I sharpened up a $5 socket last time too. It barely made 2 sides

I'm hoping if I tell enough of you that part number, you will remember it for me

Ok, it’s your job to remember that number....
Yeah I'll buy one next time, spent a long time grinding my homemade tool down to drive those sleeves but it worked ok. I do like my new little tractor supply sandblast pot. Way more fun than the wire wheel

Not a lot of progress this weekend as the feds have graciously allowed us peasants to keep a few fish for the time being. Gotta take advantage before they find out how much fun we're having and shut it down. The entire northern gulf is infested with these guys and it's hard to catch anything else. The kid in the pic is the same one that could barely see over the steering wheel on page 2. That's how long my k5 sat

I’m glad you got out to enjoy life’s little crumbs...
You’ve missed out for too long on the Blazer, so it’s time to get her done.

Agree, I wish I had found this site five years ago. The weathers ugly tomorrow so it's back to the blazer then

Not entirely a bad thing...
The smallest things bring my 69 to a halt. I got a set of headers put on yesterday & finished up my TC rebuild spent a couple hours all together...today it’s off to the lake with the Grand kids.

back at it. had to trouble shoot a pinion preload problem on front axle and realized I had forgotton to account for the .020 thickness of that outer baffle that didn't belong. fortunately I figured it out before torqueing the pinion nut and crushing my bearings. its on to getting axles back in and brakes, bearing, rotors etc today along with welding on the frame repair brace

any specific method to welding up the steering box plate? i didn't find much on youtube and i am still trying to figure out how to find info through the forums on this site. it looks like im going to spend most of the day lining up and drilling the holes to bolt it up first

I would plug weld it along with some 2” to 3” welds on the edges. If you have cracks in the frame, I would also grind those out & weld them first. Maybe search frame repair welding too
