'73 K5 - Stevoandaredk5's Build - [Pre-Summer Update - (4/5/11)]

That is a good bit of gunk for a fairly new motor. Odd that it was only 1 plug

Glad you got it running well again, easily

Me and my dad installed a new set of AC Delco plugs this morning. I was up last night starting on the center console:

More pics and such later.:D

looking good soo far

Thanks! All the stuff I ordered from Crutchfield should be here on Wednesday, so some of the final stuff will have to wait until then, make sure everything fits. However dropping it in between the seats...looks like it'll do nicely.

Only thing I'm working on now is how to mount it securely. I'm thinking about using one of these speaker terminal cups in the "shelf" where the locking storage will be. That'll allow me to seal the lower box well, but also access the spots to screw the box down...

??

More work done on the center console...order from Crutchfield gets here tomorrow.

Cut the hole for the sub, cut the main "shelf" and got it in.

Gonna have to rework the lid, the hinges I bought are just too complicated to set up with the lid the way I want...we'll see how it goes. May just have to do a piano style hinge on top with some weird, off-the-wall fasteners or something...?

Oh, and after discussing it with my dad, decided to cut an access panel. Am also going to use that orange strap, more to keep the box tight to the floor than deter theft, that's what the bolts inside to the stock mount are for. I'm pretty sure the 8 screws holding the sub in and the sub frame are up to the task. Probably looks kinda rigged...doesn't bother me at all. This truck is all form over fashion anyways haha

Anywho, pics:D:

Stereo's Installed, We have heat, and seats/harnesses are on the way - 1/08/10

Got all the stereo stuff installed. Not perfectly ideal, nor is it especially good looking. But it is secure, and it accomplishes what I wanted it to (Be loud, and have some locking storage). Now I need to somehow add on cupholders....didn't want to put em in til I knew how the shifter would sit.

Also moved the heater hose from the radiator over to the intake, and plugged the port on the rad. Had to replace the blower motor as well, but that was cheap from Autozone (lifetime warranty hahaha). Looks like I need some better quality switches however, as now I can't turn on the blower with the broken one:doah:. Sealed up the box on the firewall a while back.

Then, after some consideration, deliberation, and wallet-deflation, I ordered up a pair of those screaming deal seats for $149 and their universal mounting kit to simplify install (http://www.jeepswag.com/empi/buy2/). And also some of the 3pt Corbeau Retractable Harnesses in Red for the front.

I know for sure that harnesses get here on monday, and hopefully the seats will be here around that time too...

Adjusted the doors, passenger opens and closes great now, but the hinges on the drivers side are so worn out there is not alot of hope for them. I did take some fabric and make me grab handles on the doors so that it's possible to close em good from the inside now hahaha:haha::doah:.

Not a huge update, but I'm about to be at a point of just driving it until summer rolls around. Think that sometime during that break I may end up doing the lift...we'll see. College is 'spensive....

when you're talking about the shifter - are you planning on a 465? if so, that deck is definitely going to be in the way. Your center console sure is turning out nicely, and those seats look great!

Nah, for the foreseeable future this rig will keep the slushbox. If I get a hankering to drive a stick...well I need to get the 1st-Gen running haha...but yeah. oh and thanks :D

I hear you on the college part... Kinda fun having to balance all those expenses and trying to have fun with the Blazer.... Books or tires? hahahha

I hate to bust your bubble, but it doesn't get any better. I graduated 12 years ago. Now it is diapers and milk or tires. :doah:

Guess I gotta make progress while I can hahaha:haha:

Well UPS brought me my Corbeau harnesses about an hour ago, and I've emailed 4xFiX or whoever about when the seats would get here. These belts are gonna look sweet!

Brett (from JeepSwag/4xFix) called me tonight, EMPI is out of the black low backs, so I told him to just send me some gray ones instead. Considering the deal you get on the seats, changing to a different color isn't much of a problem. Seats ship out tomorrow by FedEx. With that in mind, I decided to pull all the stuff up front and finish Herc'ing the floors. pics:

Seats are here. Got them assembled tonight (bases, sliders, etc). Did some mockup with dad's help, gonna put a piece of 2" square tube under the front legs to get the angle right. Old seats are out, Harnesses are in. Gonna hit up Lowes early for the grade 8 hardware and get em installed. Then pack up and drive back to Austin. haha. Pictures tomorrow....well 'cept for this one.
