well guys after considering the pros and the cons for both. There are more pros to go with the 78. The only pro for the 75 is the convertible top, and thats not enough. The 78 is more together and would take less to get going than swapping everything to the 75. I checked the 78 over real good, and again i got lucky and picked up a blazer with no frame cracks and a small amount of rust in the front fender.

Anyway i think if i were to take the 75 offroad it would kill me to damage the body. I just cant do that. I am looking to do alot of trails and i dont want to worry about body damage. I can damage the 78 and not be that bothered by it. Of course my plan is to not get any body damage, but i am sure it will occur.

It looks like the 78 is a full convertible too, or is that just because the roof is painted the same color as the top?

Yea i am sure. I can remove the top in the rear, and that should be enough. I want an offroad toy and doing that to a 75 is not my style. Maybe if the body was all rotted out or beat up real bad it would be different. Now if i was building a driver that would be a different story i would definitly go 75 and cruise the hell out of it. Its just too much work to swap everything just to have a full convertible.

You dont know how much i have been thinking about that. Having a couple of clean blazers is really a pain in my a**. I listed the 75 for sale with no bites so i think i will hang on to it for awhile. Like you said if i really want a convertible just cut the top off the 78. I do have a sawzall and i do know how to use it.

Actually i sold the 78 after removing the parts i needed and kept the 75. I am collecting parts right now to get it running. I just picked up a Mile Marker part time kit for the 203 so i only need a Torque Converter for a TH400 to get it on the road. So even though i said i was going to go with the 78. I just couldnt let the 75 go. Stay tuned for updates.

Finally i have an appt. for Tuesday to have the Cement poured in our RV area.
Hopefully i can get my Blazer home the following weekend from my Sis-in-Laws place. Boy do i have alot of work ahead of me, but it feels like X-mas morning for me right now. Will post some pics when my "B" gets home.

Ok i was finally able to get my 75 home. Right when Summer is starting. WOOO HOOO. Anyway i noticed that the P.O. made his own Hitch and welded it to the frame. So last weekend i decided to bare the heat and get to work. I was able to cut most of the welds to the frame before the heat got to me and i had to retreat inside. So needless to say i didnt finish cutting the Hitch off. There is always next weekend. More progress to come





I have had this waiting to be placed in just the right spot.

I know you're saying this sarcastically. Around here, summer starting would be the best possible time to get a project going. We use phrases like "brave the cold", not "brave the heat"...

Yeah until I lived in AZ never really realized how hot it got, never thought abut leaning on a car until I moved there, don't do it anymore got burned once to many times.

Here are some pics of the 75. Just the tail and interior, but it needs some work. Its finally cooilng down a bit so i can start getting her together.

Especially now that i have a donor. Instead of taking maybe a year to get her together she should be road worthy in a few months.

My plan is to go completely topless. The top will be going bye bye forever

You know , the truggy I got started out as that roll bar , you can get some cage ideas from it , and add on as you like

And don't paint that if you really intend to wheel it , just leave it in primer . We will get you dented up properly and waste the paint job you get

Sarcastic is exactly right. You cant even work in the shade it's so hot. So slow progress is the name of the game.

As far as paint i have so many little things i need to do that isnt even in the equation yet. I dont want to leave it Primered just because i dont like the way it looks. I was planning on teaching myself to Paint so i guess i have my Canvas. Nothing to fancy though.

I am going to try and stay away from the really hard core wheeling cause i just dont have the funds to fix broken parts. I have always been an explorer, and i love the Arizona Back Country so we will see what happens once i get out there.

I have the motor in the garage on the Engine Stand, and i am in the process of cleaning it up. Prepping for Paint. I will post pics of that soon.

Ok its not much but i finally got the Hitch off.

I have some grinding still to do.


Not to mention i found small cracks in the frame where the bumper mounts that i need to fix. So i still have a little work to do.

I have also changed the direction i am going with this truck. I sold the TH400/203 combo, and decided to use the Th350 i have. Although the case is broken the Trans is good. So my plans now are to use the 350/350 combo that i got out of the 78 Blazer i had for parts, and use an NP205 27 spline as a transfer case. This will allow me to get my Blazer on the road as fast as possible with minimal cost. Then i figure i can upgrade as i need to. Basically i am tired of seeing my Blazer just sit there. I want to get it on the road.
