75 k5 on 44's....ChrisPerry's build thread

clicky I don't know how to imbed a photobucket vid so here's a link to my truck on a RTI ramp

Rear shock mounts

upper mounts just welded to a piece of left over roll bar tube using some of Kert's 3/8" thick tabs

left about 3.5-4" compression on front shaft and I use it all. The shaft just bottoms out when on the brakes and dropping off a ledge. I will be correcting this.

This pic shows the amount of trimming I did to clear the tires
001-5.jpg

Well it wasn't enough.

We did some gentle massaging @ Blazerbash with a 3lb sledge and the tires still rub (look @ the tire marks on the brace bolt in the center)

BB damage

1) headlight fell out

004-6.jpg

2) broken tail light (couldn't see a 4' tall tree)

003-6.jpg

3) pulled the two bolts out of the d60 spring mount. They are 3/4" full length bolts now. Soon to be studs.

4) not damaged but landed on the spring dropping off a ledge.

Even after pulling the bottom leaf & flexing the crap out of the front springs the front still sits ~3" too high.

The front is already on the verge of being too soft so I can't pull any more leaves. I'll probably get a set of stock Dodge 52's and make a custom set to get the height I want.

Unfortunately those were all the pics I got of my truck @ BB this year due to a camera issue. (left it at camp the first day)

If anyone else has any pics of my truck on Trifecta please PM me.

Thanks, this is the first truck I've done for this kind of offroading. I'm probably overdoing a bit, but who cares. I'm having fun.

Overdoing??? Bull, theres no such thing.

Saw a good saying on a big k5 once, said "Old Chevy's never die, they just get bigger and better". Id say you qualify:thumb:

I thought I had some more of ya Chris but this is it.

You got pics from Pritchett? Just messing around on those ledges was a blast

Oh yah as far as the spring packs go I would just get a stock pack and mess around mixing and matching leafs.

I hope to have a big ol cordless drill in the tool bag this year!

I got some pics of everyone else playing on the ledges but the memory stick filled up when I tried to shoot some video. I couldn't figure out how to erase the vid without erasing the pics too, so no more pics. Next year no vids and a bunch of memory cards. :thumb:

Me too! watching the tires eat the Chinese fenders was kool.flagwaver So was the sledge hammer beatdown afterward.
