76 Blazer Project thread Updated 6/19/15 Long over due updates

time for some updates, so i left my truck up north for a few weeks and came back to find it like this




So in the process of getting it out of the snow this happened






This truck will be seeing a lot of work the next few weeks, i have a D60, Crossover and 52's in the plans

Gotta love working out in the cold. I just replaced the converter to muffler gaskets on my fiance's Cougar about an hour ago in my parents unheated garage.

Nice rig for 2K. $hit, I wish mine looked half that nice! Mine's still a work in progress. You know, I thought I was wrong once,...............but I was Mistaken!

update, well i just drove the truck 500 miles home now its time to let the Construction start

so i am starting on my Dana 60 Axle for my truck i should have it done in the next few weeks


here is the collection of all the parts i need to put the 60 together

here is one of my axle u joints together and the parts to put the other one together

The clean cups ready to get grease and needle bearings

The first cup with the seal and all the bearigns installed

I started to tackle the king pins on my 60 today they are a pain

this king pin is not wanting to break loose


the caranage on the snap on break bar from the king pin



one if the king pins actually came out pretty easy

I got some more work done tonight, the old front suspension is out


The Old D44 and 4 inch springs


Greasy 350, ill have to clean this before i am done with this swap

well today i made a little more progress, i removed all the rivets that i needed to for the 52's and cleaned up the steering box area to find small cracks that i had to drill and will weld in before i put the brace on


The nice crack can be seen on the lower right bolt hole for the steering box


The twisted cross member removed so it can be replaced


All the empty space from the removed crossmember


I opened up the rear end to see what i had in there and its a gov-bomb, so looks like its time to weld it up

I have made some progress in the past few days, i got all the old brackes off the frame and the extra ones off the donor frame that i have. I got one of the sides for the 52's mocked up and started to put the seals in my D60 just waiting on the lockright that is on back order to put the axle all together

The New holes drilled in the Frame for the New DIY spring eyes

I figured its time for a update, These pictures are pretty old but the most current i have, the truck is back on the road ill take some pictures tommarow of the track bar setup i made and the rest of the 52 swap


The old twisted Cross member is removed

My truck joins the one Ton Club

here are the pics of the trac bar that i made, i am going to add some more reinforcement to the top mount while the engine is out

More Progress, things went pretty slow in the afternoon i had to run around a lot to find part and buy a bunch of tools because the ones at my house got locked up

5.3 Sitting nicely in the frame rails bolted to the engine mounts


The Clearance issues with the engine cross member were taken care of with a grinder





Plenty of room back here
