:waytogo:yeah, do so Jeremy, gimme a call, as I'm gone so much. I got home the other night about 1am, so I didn't call ya back.:thumb:

As long as my A/C isn't working as is, I was looking to change my old style compressor to a new style with a serp setup/134A type.
Anyone done this on a BBC?

Also looking to add an electronic cruise control system that will work with a carb setup, any ideas on that?

I have an aftermarket cruise on my 78 that works really well. I think its out of a jc whitney catalog. Just has a magnet on the driveshaft and a pickup mounted near by. I like it.

Id look to some of the streetrod type stuff, or even better yet, a serp setup off a newer BBC truck with a better alternator all in one shot.

Best part of that is replacement parts would be easy to find if needed.

You don't have a brand name for that do ya?

This is all I've been able to find on aftermarket setups, but not real sure if it'll work for a carb'd engine or not. I need to call and find out more about it.

Thats what I was thinking...I have a Kwik perf adapter setup on the Iron Maiden with a SBC serp setup and its working out well. Was going to head in that direction with this truck, but don't know about hoses/fittings/and differences between the new and old systems.

Dave I know you will probably keep this truck for quite some time. I don't mean to add cost to your build (well yes I do) but I would seriously look at the vintage air setup.

Cleans up the engine bay alot because it gets rid of all the stuff on the firewall.

I think it comes with a compressor too. Just a Sanden so it should work well with any serpentine setup.

I just seeing trying to mesh old and new possibley costing a decent amount of money

you could swap in a serpintine rig or use something like this brackets...

add a modern parallel flow condenser and a Sanden compressor, you should be good to go...if everything else is still there...

here's a great a.c. thread...(small block, but still good general info)

clicky

I like the Vintage Air setup, nice in one kit, but not sure about mounting on a serp setup??? Is it just a matter of changing the pulley? Something to ask them I guess. Also I would like to run a serp setup.

thanks Ray, that it a great thread, and I think I"ll persue that route, it looks the most adaptable to what I want on my truck, with using a mid 90's SBC serp setup.

It is just your basic Sanden air compressor, very easy to switch out the pulleys for it. I am sure they do that quite a bit for guys running newer motors in older stuff

Dont they make those compressors with a serp pulley?

I could swear summit had them at one time.
