then I started figuring out the autoworld motormounts....instructions seem to be for the opposite side as listed...from what I have the drivers side template was for the pass side and viceversa. Hope it don't bite me in the ass later on!

then I got the engine sat in the frame...the motor mounts go to the forward position on the block, took me a few tries to figure that out, as I had them in the middle of the block while on the engine stand.
the A/C mounting is tight as I expected, would like to find some f700 mounts or freightliner mounts for the alt and A/C compressor, will see exactly how much I need to get into the frame to make it fit. also will need to scallop out the front crossmember for the balancer. Auto world's instructions say the lip on the body firewall will need to be flattened out as well as the trans tunnel opened up for the bellhousing. I may consider grafting the Dodge trans tunnel into the Chevy body???

A 1" body lift might look silly on a 2wd?

Martin

going to give that a shot w/ Kerts 1" aluminum pucks. That would be great if that's all it would take to get enough clearance around the trans adapter area, and its nice to have a little room between the frame and body as well.

I like inline engines a lot more than V-engines. So seeing this come together is really cool.

I'm already 2 years overdue of getting this far! :doah:

Yeah, it does make working on things underneath a lot nicer.

The frame is not a big deal from what I have seen, or heard. After talking to sixb (dave) about it for awhile after he went with the big truck stuff. Said cost wise and ease of finding parts, cutting the frame is much simpler.

The other mount doesn't use an inexpensive compressor or even one that is easy to find.

The frame cut is much easier and it was the way he was going next. With yours being 2wd there is nothing out there that the frame supports except the radiator support and the bumper.

Cut the frame, not even sure I would box it in to fix cut and be done.

Loss of strength in a frontal impact?
I might have a line on an aftermarket bracket that I believe uses the Dodge A/C comp
Also getting some f/b feedback that the engine isn't far enough forward???
Will be checking into that more on Monday

Looks to me like it is. Put on the balancer see if it fits, if it barely does then you are where it should be.

I think any farther forward and you are putting in a new cross-member.

Not a bad idea anyway but I think you are in the right spot.

With the balancer on I got 1/4"
The auto world instructions say to scallop the crossmember and plate it back in, but that is 4wd?
Not sure if 2wd is different?
I don't see how I could get it farther forward either?

Pretty easy to just scallop a bit out. I don't think the motor will hit but like Keith said might be hard to put a belt on

some fb feedback I'm getting is that it isn't far enough forward....AND, according to Autoworld's instructions and templates (which appear to be backwards...pass is drivers side, and vice versa) the engine mounts are in the correct orientation with the locking tabs facing the firewall, but talking with them it sounds like the engine should be farther forward as well, as the crossmember NEEDS to be cut for balancer and fan clearance?
I think I'll play around more with the motor mounts as there is an offset to them, but that would orient them in the wrong direction from their instructions. It does say that firewall mods will have to be made with these mounts.

This is a pass side pic, the template says drivers side...

I guess the engine setting back a bit will perhaps allow the present fan hub to be used...I hear the short fan hub is needed to use the mechanical fan. Maybe I just need to get the engine finished up (finding true TDC and pump timing still) to get the pump exactly where I want it. then get the core support on it and start fitting things together up front
