can't seem to find any control arm bushings....C20/C30 stuff, not the same as the C10 stuff.
Can only find the control arm shaft kits.
Anybody got a line on just the bushings?
Yes, but I already have all of those parts....I only need the shaft bushings....they should be out there somewhere as Moog/ACDelco etc sell new shafts w/ those bushings on them...they have to have a supply from someone???
Frustratingly no....there is a hundred excuses, family commitments, work, other more pressing priorities at home, but the biggest is I've been slacking on making it more of a priority. Here is where I'm at:
One point of consideration is still the A/C compressor....its location on the engine puts it hitting the frame somewhat. ok I can build/reinforce around that area, but it also is where the idler arm bolts to the frame, and the sway bar mounts on the bottom of the frame rail. I need to investigate the possibility of making an access hole from the front to install/remove the compressor unit without gouging out too much of the front crossmember or the framerail. The pics show where it goes on the engine...the bolts are the stock mounting bolts only threaded into the mounting plate about 1-1/2 threads just to see where the unit will sit. Finding a way to tighten the bolts puts one access hole right where the idler arm bolts to the frame rail. the pic of the compressor shows the uppermost part of the A/C housing where the mounting bolts go through the casting (right at the green tape). The second pic shows the mounting bolts on the engine mounting plate. You can also see the mounting plate has a scallop in it to clear the body of the A/C compressor that will have to have the same clearance on the frame rail. The third is the side view of where the bolts line up with the frame (approx.)
I will say it again . move the compressor . its a flat 4 bolt mount . fab a plate and make a new home . less work in the end and stronger stock frame .
agreed Brett, but I'm not liking the relocation look, as it would be above the alternator and cramming the area of the oil filter.... or re-engineer all of the accessory mounting?
Again I vote for medium duty truck version, there are a few out there. Or if cash allows Diesel Conversion Specialists makes their version of it but I would just go junkyard or even get Cummins numbers and see how bad it is. There are several lower water necks available.
