Pulled the fuse on the ABS!
The sensors went bad so pulling the fuse disables the ABS system returning it to a fully operational typical braking system.
I'm fine with that!

I take it you were getting the abs system going wild from about 10mph down to zero?

Yes
On dry pavement it would do the modulation taking away effective braking, got scary a few times, so I pulled over and removed the fuse....I think it started when I was in Chicago when I picked up Eric for build week in 2011

thats called a abs stop . 5mph or less it does a pulse like abs would have been activated .

there is a tech bulleten from gm on this . lots of them are rust on the bearing body for the front wheel bearing . this pushes the sensor up a few tho and out of spec for distance to tone ring . at the low speed of 5mph or less it cant tell the tire is rolling and activates the system .

2 ways to fix .

1 replace whole wheel bearing hub unit if you want .

or carefully remove the sensor from the wheel bearing body and i mean carefully as there in tight .

then pack the hole with a paper towel chink to keep crap out . clean rust from surface and reinstall sensor .

but most of the time the wheel bearing unit is close to its life span end or the sensor breaks . . so i always just replace the whole unit . and rockauto prices are great for timken hub units .

That dually bed is in great shape! I'm assuming the one that was on your 76 had issues?

It wasn't rusted through but it was rusty underneath....sandblasting would clean it up good, but the bed was well used, the front wall was dented hard enough to hit the cab and the tailgate s jammed shut.
This one has none of those issues and I should be able to refinish it with much Less labor and parts involved

I didn't think this was the place for that but since you bring it up, we came to win, and it wasn't just a victory it was annihilation mostly by Kert
Seemed like it wasn't a good weekend for most people. I get that. I couldn't participate in many myself

You going to have this rig driving next summer Zim?

Jeez, I thought I would just ignore ya for a month and a half Heath....LOL, Not sure about driving...seems when I put a deadline on something I set myself up for disappointment anymore....having healthcare issues with the parents, so I'm becoming more involved with that in my life.
I do NEED to get it running again though...I'm just not comfortable with the engine sitting this long and not running, and I want to hear that Cummins rattle again!

Nice rig man! I may have some 6bt swap questions for ya in the future I'm not sure what direction I'm goin w/my cc yet:waytogo:

Fire away Dan....not sure how much help I'll be as this truck is a C30...most of these conversions are done on a 4WD truck, but I'll be glad to help if I can.

Thanks man, yea I'm not sure which way I want to go 6bt or L18ally. Either way I'd have my work cut out for me

knowing this has been thrown out before, my tired ole 454/T400 would run circles around the 6.0/4L80 in my 99 pulling the Maiden/trailer...just sucks getting 5mpg doing it!
