Any reason I can't use regular bolts for the hood to hinge mount? In the 2 years since I took the hood off the Chalet I seem to have lost the original ones.

Torque specs for the castle nut on the tie rod ends?

Thanks. :D

Regular bolts should be fine but make sure to use a washer. Most hood to hinge bolts are a flanged head bolt with serrations to help keep the bolt from becoming loose.

Torque spec on Tie rod castle nuts is 45 ft/lbs.

Crap. Was up on the engine hooking up the vacuum line for the tranny modulator, bumped some wires behind the distributor which shorted and burnt a couple fusible links in that harness, I think.

Truck no worky again. :o

Thanks for the answers.

Better to happen at home rather than on a road trip somewhere with possibilities of a fire and being stranded.

I guess that's why everything in the manual starts with "1. disconnect the negative battery cable."

I was thinking the same thing, I didn't bump it very hard, looks like the insulation where they spliced the wires was about gone.

I promised myself I'd wait til done to post pics, but have been driving around the parking lot for a couple days and am stoked. Found the hood bolts, I was smart enough to bolt them back in the hood back in 2008. You can see the 2 years, or 1/4" of accumulated warehouse dust on the windshield.

Just need to tie up some loose wiring, bleed the brakes again, mount the hi-lift, put the hood back on and she's road ready. Of course there's still little stuff, but I'm bout 99% there.

ideally, you use washered bolts...

Don't forget your stealth "black / 'can't-find-it-in-the-woods' green" color decal for the back door. :D

Well, my e-brake cables out of the axle wouldn't reach the little brackets to the frame. So I had a buddy build me a couple little 5" steel, drop brackets(see pic).

I tightened the slack in the cables, and the pedal is nice and tight, but the brake won't hold. Looked and my brackets are bending a little, but I wouldn't think that would be a problem.

As I have all new drum brake hardware, is there something I need to do to adjust the e-brake?

Also open to a different idea on the brackets, the only thing I can do is to take them off an a weld a perpendicular stiffener onto them.
