76 K5 Blazer Chalet - Put the ol girl out to pasture, literally.

Man, after watching survivor shows on discovery and seeing this, makes me want to go camping..REALLY BAD.. Once again I wish I had a chalet.. Only your's seems more functional. More expedition like.. Hope ya have a great weekend enjoying the fruits of your labor!

Got it home last night a the kids helped me pre trip. Put about 40 miles on it yesterday and the only problem is the tranny started leaking at the dipstick pretty good again. Guess my RTV fix wasn't a permanent one....Going to drive it about 90 miles to the lake today where we've got some land and do a little fishing and probably get some poser shots. Just me and the 6 year old, and I'll take our .22's as well. Wish us luck, i've told my brothers to keep they're cell phones handy......

My 2 yo wants to drive

Thatd be a ****in awesome tow rig. I want a chalet now .

That was a nice little trip. 225 mile round trip, little bit of pasture driving, a little can shooting, requisite poser shots, couple beers by the lake and a good night's sleep by the water. High was around 102 yesterday, but the breeze coming off the lake and the little 12v fan in the camper made for good sleeping.

Took about 100 miles for the springs to break in, but the ride back seemed a lot smoother. I think I've got the drivetrain setup just right for my needs. Cruised about 62-65mph up there without having to wind the engine way up. Also, maintaned its speed well up hills without any effort. Getting around in the pasture was no problem, going to have to get up the way the next time it rains and see how it does in the mud.

Got lots of funny looks on the highway. But when I stopped for gas the dude next to me got his camera out and was snapping pictures so we shot the **** for a minute.

Off topic - do they make those grills for '84 K5s? I wasnt sure

Lake Arrowhead up by Wichita Falls. Sent you a pm on the grill Badmix, not sure if they still build them or not.

I could defintely use one of those chainsaw signs, might have to put that on my Christmas list.

Thanks for all the nice posts. More than once I thought about burning the sucker to the ground the last couple of years. Glad I stuck it out and finished the build.
