Anyone see anything wrong with this??? Lol the more I dig into the junk I bought a few years ago the more I want to hunt the guy down just to tell him he's an idiot... all along I thought it was a 4wd box and then it dawned on me that the sector shaft had a nut on the end of it! The crappy part is there was water in it and it's junk. The bearing surface on the sector shaft is pitted pretty bad.

Made this little gem today. About the only use I have for a U-bolt this size. I did get a lot of cleaning done today and I know it will pay off in the long run but I want this thing to be done! I just remembered that I have a few hours Monday morning that I can work on things.

Congratulations on cleaning ! !!
I have been trying to get some of that done as well!
And it's only taken me 2 weeks to rebuild a 241 for my '90!!
Getting old is a royal pain!

Haha thanks! That reminds me. I have a 243 that I need to rebuild and get it up for sale...

Didn't get much done on the truck this weekend. I finished cleaning up and started to build my engine crossmember. I planned on using the 4wd motor mounts I have, but when I took a good look at it I changed my mind. I finally decided on the direction I wanted to go and got a good start and then... I ran out of wire. :doah: No chance of finding any in this town on a Saturday. Good news is the garage is "cleaned" and I have a plan. Now I just need wire... :D

Wait...you own a Chevy truck? I thought you were a Dodge man. :dunno:

It's only halfway through the weekend man! No lowes or Home Depot nearby for wire?

I'm planning to redo mine with 4wd motor mounts. Not happy with the way the 2wd mounts turned out. Will the 4wd mounts not work at all?

I didn't look into it too close but it looks like they will work but you will have to drill new bolt holes. Depending on how my crossmember turns out I might swap them out later on.
@skunked the nearest Home Depot is 45 minutes away in casper. We did go to casper tonight but we left a little late and I didn't get to stop and grab any before they closed. My sundays are one of the busiest days of the week for us so I won't get to mess with it at anyway. I'll grab some Friday and see what I can get done. Next week.

A clean garage is a productive garage.
My thoughts exactly. I couldn't take it anymore. I still need to get some stuff moved out but a lot of it goes in my sons truck and it goes under the knife as soon as I get mine done. Then I think I'm going to take a break and just use my garage to park my truck in... Oh wait that's what I'm using it for now!!! :haha:

Back when I had my crew cab I re drilled the frame and modified the 4x4 mounts and crossemember to fit the 2wd frame. It was easy to do as I used a grinder and a cutoff wheel. I've got some pictures somewhere I'll try to dig them up.

I thought I had a few more pictures on that old phone but I guess not. This was the initial fitment photos of swapping in the 4x4 components. Wishing I had a few pictures of it done but I was able to make braces that held the top end of the mounts to the frame. Sadly that truck is long gone so I can't get any more.
