77 C20 hauler to crawler

So... The leaf packs I have on the back just aren't going to cut it... Back to square one. This sucks! I scrapped two 56" packs a few years ago because I never thought I would use them. That was dumb...

Did you move your tanks?

Can you do 63s.

Those are alot more common than the 56s. Or the Ford 57s?

Tanks are gone (one is gone but they're both going). I thought about 63s. I might have this figured out. I pulled another leaf out of the pack and added the overload off the old 56" pack. Seems to be a lot better. I'll get the other side done and see how it goes! We have a newer suburban in the yard that is totaled so if this doesn't work I'll snag the springs out of it.

Was that a standard 56" pack? The stock-height packs and leaves are pretty cheap to buy new.
No I used the stock 56" packs up front with the intentions of using modified superlift packs in the rear. They ended up being way too stiff so I pulled another leaf out. I think it's going to work for now. I'll probably change it later on but for now it's going to have to work. I'm to the point where I just want to get it back together and enjoy it. Plus I want to get my kids truck put back together so we can play this winter. After I get these two trucks together and another guy gets his back together we will have about 10 rigs ready for some snow thrashing. I had to sit last winter out because of all the stuff we had going on but this winter will be different.

Sitting here admiring my mess and the fact that this thing is sitting on all four again! Good news is the rear springs are definitely going to work (for now) but the bad news is... One of the factory 56s I put up front is junk FO-SHO... Probably going to bite the bullet and order new ones. It was questionable to start with but now that it doesn't have jackstands holding it up it is clear that it's junk.

I guess I didn't post the pics of what I ended up doing on the rear. Took another leaf out and built a 2.5" block. It's bolted to the spring pack and has a center pin welded in the bottom. My u-bolts are almost too short but they should be fine with some flanged lock nuts. I'll weld a gusset in the end of the square tube just to keep the pessimism to a minimum but I really don't see it collapsing.

That's not junk that's one of them multiarch springs. I have tons of experience with them. Flex is fantastic. Lol

Oh and yah brace those blocks up I have seen 1/4 wall tube collapse. It did so cause of a semi bad situation, course it went from semi bad to really bad as soon as it collapsed
