77 C20 hauler to crawler

One more piece and it’s done. Have to make something to cover the steering column and tie the bottom part together with the top. Then I can take it apart one more time and finish my wiring. I came to the realization earlier that I totally forgot about the fuel gauge... I know where we have one at the shop that’s stashed away in a secret place so I’ll just snag it. It’s one of those things I was supposed to throw away when we were cleaning the shop but I knew it was brand new so I kept it.

Surprise!!!! Found this little mess under my dash. Doesn’t look like it did any damage to any of the other wires.

It’s almost 2am... I should probably go to bed. I should be able to fire this thing up on Monday.

I want to REALLY bad but I have to be patient.
@GWeakland620 at full stuff how far up the core support does your front tire go? I am just trying to find the best place to mount my battery. I remember you had to trim the lip on the bottom of your support.
I actually haven’t trimmed it yet.

Would have fired it up tonight but I had some issues getting the oil filter off. I spent almost 3 hours fighting the stupid thing, cussing myself for not changing it before I did the exhaust! I was convinced that I screwed up the threads when I stuck a screwdriver through it. Had it down to the base, using a chisel and hammer and it was barely turning. Then I realized something I never noticed before... the bellhousing bolt hole went all the way through and the bolt became a set screw for the oil filter!!!! Backed the bolt off and BAM!!! Filter (what was left of it) spun right off. Put a shorter bolt in and it’s all good now. Good news is....... There wasn’t any metal in the filter!

Everything is wired in and appears to be functioning. Need to top off the coolant, put some gas in it, and loosen the belts on my PS pump and I’ll be able to fire it up.

Then it’s time to clean up my mess. If that doesn’t take too long I’ll finish up the wiring inside the cab. These late nights are kickin my butt!!!
