77 The Black Truck "Ratbag"

lets not forget this one...

I love you and Luke chuckling in the Dodge! :haha:

Paper work is minor Deano.

First get a registery search on the cab vin. Make sure it's last known registration was Alberta. So you don't need an OOP.

Then Get anyone to write you up a bill of sale for that ViN that is actually on the cab. Get insurance with that bill of sale. Then go to registry with ins and bill of sale. Get plates. And your done.

Awesome! :thumb:

Insurance is the one that will ask for an inspection. Ins inspections are cake buddy.

I know a guy! :D

hows the choke working? I'm still concerned about it not closing the choke plate enough when cold, and/or not opening enough to let it come off high idle....?
Also is that the timing indicator that came with that engine?
I just was thinking we never mechanically figured out true TDC...I used the rocker arm movement on #1 cylinder to figure when it was on the compression stroke and used the mark on the balancer as TDC.

If you could get a timing tape for your balancer, or just figure out where 40* is at the timing could be dialed in a bit better if you like. Here is a way to figure out how to mark the balancer that is on the engine. http://www.csgnetwork.com/timingmarkcalc.html

When you get that roller cam in it (read Rene'.....:pimp:) it will need to be degreed in at that time.
Oh and seems the Edelbrock intake woke up those small port heads decently huh?

Yeah, that intake is a gooder. I think that carb is well suited too...doesn't seem to need any jet work or anything, no stumble, no bog, and crisp response.

I was surprised at how well it pulled considering the tiny TBI cam it has. Seems to pull decently beyond 4000 rpm too. I really expected it to just fall on it's face above 4K but it doesn't.

We'll see about getting a roller cam and the 781's on at some point...Dean don't have a say. It's now the official CK5 MnG party truck. :haha:

Dean said he had to feather the throttle on the burnout vid...it was bumping 5K..:thumb:...

It is a very responsive carb, much like my JET was...gotta love a quad that performs like that!
I wish I would have thought more about the timing and finding true TDC on it, then marking the balancer before we put the front end all back together. I'm sure it could be better, but I wanted to be safe with it as well.

Honestly I barely even driven the truck since you left...I wasn`t to happy with the oil pressure "no joke" I `m going to try different gauge when I got a chance. Yesterday I started it and put it in the garage the pressure was good at 50 pounds cold at 0c outside. The other day when I started it it was 26c outside and the pressure was only 30 tops and around 5 or so at idle. Never paid to much attention to the gauge with the 305. :haha:

Lol! I do like that carb!

Yeah I looked at the tack an thought I`d better back off a bit! :D
Certainly seems like a fun truck now!

Yes it is! :thumb: But the suspension licks the bag! And the seat I have in it
also sucks! :haha:

I can't remember what the warm idle pressure was when we first ran her.

But yeah I'm with you on the gauge, then stock pieces ain't to terribly accurate IMO.

hmmm, that seems very odd indeed, I would also suspect the guage, but maybe burp a little out of the line AT the guage?

I think it was Rene that mentioned to me the other day that there could be air in the line. Maybe.

Today I got a new phone so I have been playing with that! :doah: And the weather here has been so nice we had to pick all Kris`s tomatoes green so they wont freeze! :eek1:

Maybe tomorrow I can get to the gauge.

Supposed to warm up the next few days Dean. hitting 70's by Saturday. You guys getting any frost? We haven't yet...but the city is always a bit warmer than out in the wilds where you live. :flipoff7:

I don't really need to watch the weather, if I see all of Deb's plants in my garage I know it's supposed to get cold. :haha:

Lol! No frost yet but post to be -7 Thursday.
Then yeah it will get nice again... that's when the long days and nights in the feild will start!

Picked our tomaters Monday night......hasn't gotten frosty yet. Hoping doesn't quite this early :doah:

In this pic you can see I hooked up a temporary gauge and it was 30psi at 2000rpm

Engine cold temp in my garage was 58f or 13c

Then I went back and hooked up the dash gauge again took about 2 minuets between the two gauges.

I t was a bit higher this time at the same rpm , 2000

Does that seem normal to you guys?

I`ll try it out latter and see what the psi is after it`s hot.

These are mechanical gauges...I got one more spare one I could try I anyone thought it would make a difference.
