left work early tonight to get these parts painted....frame touchups from cage tie-ins and bumpmounts/ core support/ upper radiator retainer plate/ and the cage tie-ins.
Forgot to put a head mask on, now my hair feels like it has a can of hairspray in it....dumbass.

It would be from New Mexico, and I'd need some lead time to get it but I could meet you in Iowa . As long as your not in a huge hurry I could make it happen.
Definitely interested Gus....I could take a little time in the spring to make it happen. Got any pics? What year? I think it could work on my frame somehow regardless of year though.

Well it would most likely be a CUCV, I have a Buddy that owes me a favor or 10 that has about 15 CUCV 1009's that he parted out . I also have a couple tubs at Pattys Mom's house as long as her dippy brother didnt sell them for scrap

Bet you're ready to have some fun with this - nice work on everything, there's some very trick things you've done along the way. Keep up the good work!

finished the paint on the frame last night at midnight, up at 7 to spray the engine cage....

Got that done, then on to get the axles, and suspension back under it.

A subtle little touch

now going to try to get the body back on yet today.....

looks good man!
just curious about the colors on the frame and axles. I've been reading all about your preferences on the cage color and body color, just wondering if there was a particular reason for your choices for the frame and axle colors.

because everybody else does black, and this is different. Thats what I heard anyway:D

lol, I hear that. if I ever manage to do this big of a rebuild, I'd definitely go with a lighter color too. seems like it would be easier to spot leaks. just wondering if these paticular colors meant anything. :pimp:

Ashman, the frame color is actually more sand color in the flash pics than it really is, if you look at the pic that was taken outdoors, its more of a gray color than the tan color in the flash pics...I do like that sand/tan color too though.
I was aiming for metal colors, as would go with the IRON theme here. I missed em for the most part, but the axles are a Iron gray spray can job, the cage is supposed to replicate fresh rust colors, achieved with Hemi Orange/School bus yellow spray cans, and the frame is just a custom mix single stage Nason Urethane from a color chart.

Got the body back on today, not all mounts are in, and still have to tie the cage back in with the frame links, but its back on neverless.

Adam was asking how I lifted it....something like this. a 1ton comealong on each side where the 4x4 is, and a crane lift in the back center.

Love the subtle touch Dave!! Looks like its going together pretty quickly.

Maybe I need to have you come out for a week or two and put my truck together.:D

Nice progress zimm. Wish I had time to work on mine like that, maybe this fall after it cools down some.

Adam, seems I've had this thing apart quite a bit in the last year, more repetitive motions, make efficiency.

Hahaha, I missed the paint on the edges, but you get the idea!

I'll be out labor day man!

I got alot done yesterday evening, and today, I was the energizer bunny til my mule back give up on me....time to rest it, but back at it tomorrow. stay tuned!

gonna keep banging on it whenever I can, lots to do, but getting some help too.
Had a buddy and my brother help out some on Sat.
We got the steering collumn put back together (new keyed switch installed) and got that put in the truck with the adaptive XJ shaft. Got a mated wiring harness checked out, and wrapped and installed in the dash. Installed some electrical switches, a remote solenoid, junction block, starter button, battery, heater core, heater fan housing, a few new items for them, and some brackets made for mounting interior lights. Lots of tedious stuff that burns up time pretty good. I got a buddy helping out with the wiring (big help for me).
