O I have most all the receipts, I'm just not sure I want to know how much I have spent on it so far, and still have to spend a bunch more to finish it.:haha::haha::haha:

But if you post it then everybody will know how much it takes to truly build a truck up the right way. Then we can start saving or give up early and save our time lol :D

When I get it almost done I can give an est. cost for y'all to chock on.

Take a guess Adam then multiply it by 4, and thats just for the truck, that doesn't include tools you may need, consumables you may need, money spent on fast food during the build, cost to heat the garage in the winter in, etc etc etc.

I am scared to see how much Teck has into his I could probably reread his thread and get a pretty good idea. I have a prettty good idea how much Dave has into his,

Just put it this way, its alot

I dont want to know a number on most of these trucks. If I knew I'd be tempted to sell all mine and buy a yugo :haha: the numbers would be too scary to continue:doah: Cant have that:rolleyes:

And I start with my K5 that I built and drove for about 6 yrs. before I started this rebuild on it. So I had a good platform to start form.

That is what I have reciepts for...I know I can throw a couple hundred more into it for MISC "stuff" also.

Way over my 10K budget I thought I could do this for 2 years ago, but I've changed so many things, built it stronger than I planned, bought parts I haven't used, and should probably take them off this total, I still have a couple more grand to put into it, with Hydro assist, Beadlocks, and some paint.

You know one of the coolest things was I acutally made it to Moab....still boggles my mind to think of the thrash that was made by so many people at my house, at Kerts, and at Moab to get the Iron Maiden on the trails.....Priceless (although my bank account thinks otherwise, :flipoff3:).

So if this real world cost of my build can help anyone, I'm glad to share it. I have as much cash into this thing as I do my Vette, and that freaks me out a little, but its turned out the way I want it, and I'm really happy with the results......so far!

You guys are all crazy...

Every time I try to add up receipts I get nauseous.

:usaflag:

I could roughly figure it out if I wanted too... maybe at some point when it's done... it's a f*ckton.... and obviously I'm far from being done spending...

heck, I know there's over a couple grand worth of bodyshop supplies for all the fab and bodywork supplies used on mine alone... in sandpaper, grinding discs, flapwheels and rolocs, primers and paints, seamsealer, etc...

I'm with you on that. I'm just waiting tell the end so I don't freak out. But that is wait has taken this long to do.:D

Man I didn't even want to include all the "supplies" and additional tools/equipment needed to get this far. I could probably tack another couple grand in that.
I know I've gone through 4-#80 bottles of gas and 4-10# spools of .030.
Cutting discs and flapwheels by the boxes.
Forget the electric bill increase, and the blown rod on the compressor, the burnt out drill, and angle grinder. The inexperience of doing a build like this has cost me more than a couple grand too.
BUT I still love the Maiden!

thats great Keith....I know I got way more into this than many others do. Certainly not something I'm proud of, just the facts....Many of my "deals on parts" turned out to be anything but a deal...case in point the $500 D60 that now has 2700 total in it :doah:. I chalk it up to being uneducated on the subject(s). The 454 I bought for 500, ended up at close to 6K....including everything, but I thought I could do it for 1500, you know bearing, ring and gasket rebuild kinda thing...well I let it balloon on me...Now I think it's a great engine...550 tq is nothing a stock 454 has, but still way outta line for a 10k budget. I know I could have probably run a lot lesser quality/strength parts, but I really think I got a pretty bulletproof drivetrain...hopefully the stubs or lockouts are the fuse in the system. and I'm good with that.
I do have a LOT of quality parts in this truck, and will never get 1/4 out of what I have in it, but its really what I have always wanted it to be, so its all good:pimp:

I like your attitude about it Dave!

But I think I'll cry for you. LOL

Please let me rephrase what I said... I wish I owned it, I would be very proud off what you made out of it, I have spent way to much cash on things that didn`t turn out the way I wanted them to, you did it right and I give you totally respect for it.

Money well spent! IMO!

Hey Dave

Love this thread! I get to thinking idly about doing things to my burb, then I start thinking about the details...like putting in a cage and cutting off the top...I started thinking how to connect it and mount it to the frame...voila! I check your thread and there it is!

This thing covers just about everything I think about doing...Great job, and thanks to everyone who helped! Love it!:thumb::thumb::thumb:
