I used the existing bolt and found a hole on the bottom of the frame. I might find somewhere else to put it cause it could get ripped off there. Thanks for your help :waytogo:

You're welcome. I hope that fixes it. If you're trucks like mine, it will only go about 160 miles on 16 gallons and it's nice to know when I need to start looking for a gas station.

Well I stripped that wire down and the whole thing was black and sticky. So I took the wire from the other tank and switched the connectors. I then took a grinder to the frame and cleaned off a spot then cleanded a spot on the lug. Still no dice :dunno:.

Did some trimming last night. Almost done, just need to finish up on the passengers side. :hack::grind:

So you took the end of the green wire off of the other tank's sending unit and hooked it to the tank in quesiton's sending unit, making sure that the other end was still grounded to the frame and the needle still went past full? Hmmmm.... must be the sending unit itself???? It would suck to have to drop the tank and change it when it's still picking up fuel. That's the only thing I can think of that would cause it, unless you didn't hook it up good. Chassis round is chassis ground, I would think. I've never messed with a dual tank setup before though.

The connector on the blue wire is the one that runs to the frame. I switched that with the one from the other side and had to change the connector to they would plug in cause I had 2 female pieces. I haven't done anything with the rubber connector that is on the actual sender itself. Hell I can't even see where either wire leads to . The only way to see anything was to stick my phone up there and take this picture. I am also starting to think its the sender, but Its just wierd that it happened right after I ran my CB antenna cord. I grabbed some new lugs I can try putting on the wire that goes to the frame, but I doubt it will do me any good.

I can't remember how mine is. I'll try to look at it when I get home but I don't think I can see it without taking the tank down. Seems like I had a red wire with a rubber boot on it going to the metal button on top of the tank (yours is blue). I don't think that removing that wire will make the needle go past full. In fact, it may make it go down past empty or not work at all. I can't remember now.

So when you connected the wire from you other tank, did you start the engine to see if the needle would go back down? I don't think it will move from where it is unless you start the engine. If you turn the key, it may move back some, but I think you have to start the engine for the needle to go back to normal. Try that.

Just fill it up when you leave Lincoln, fill it up when you get to Randolph, and top it off before you leave.

I'll have to keep a spare can in the back for when I run out.

Anyone know what the capacity is for a short box fuel tank? It's cant be very much, thats for damn sure.

Something is goofy with my tank. It was sputtering like it was out of gas last night and only took about ~7 gallons before it would puke gas out of the filler..

Is the tank dented or something? I think the fuel pickup thing has gone bad on you. When you drop the tank to replace it, if there's any rust on the tank, that would be the time to replace the tank too.

At least you have two tanks. Just keep filling up the one you know you can count on. Gas tanks can be a pain in the butt sometimes. :frown1:

I only put one of them back in after the I put the new spring hangers on. :doah:The switching valve didn't work so I didn't waste my time.

Haha. Put a new switching valve in. Anyway, yeah just grab a two gallon can of gasoline. When are you taking off? I am just waiting for a load of laundry in the drier to finish.

I am meeting Newton, Ebke, and who ever else in Fairbury around 6:30. You going to be there?

That's the plan. You don't need to bring much beer if you can handle drinking Busch Light, I have two thirty packs I am bringing along to get rid of.
