Just drill some holes all around the sleeve with a drill bit and then when the sleeve gets to where you can knock it out, pour some lighter fluid on the old bushings and light 'em up and burn them out. This is only if you take the whole spring off the truck. Hopefully you won't have to. Then just put some grease on the new ones and they'll slide in easily.

Coolant is an important part of the cooling system. We are getting more HP out of it now so you need to make sure it is full. Also I would consider washing out your radiator at min. I like to pull them out and wash them out Heavy duty with the nozzle on the garden hose. Reds truck used to run 220+ with the a/c on and now will run 180 all day.

It's a brand new radiator.

Did the front HD ORD greasable shackles yesterday. Was a lot easier than everyone made it out to be. That is with the help of air tools and a lift of course.

CHROME HEADS!!!!! Picked them up from Jesse for $15 so what the hell. I will get some M/T's, but these will work for now so I can get a breather.

A guy on a local forum saw I was looking for a Detroit and PM'd me with this offer. Opinions? I don't know too much about the HO72. Seems like it would be hard to find axle shafts if I broke one.

I heard you are looking for a Detroit for a 14 bolt. I've got one for sale. Here's the deal. It's from a 1960's Eaton rearend out of a chevy 3/4 ton. I'm not sure if you know much about the Eaton, but it was the predecessor to the 14 Bolt. The Detroit's for these two axles are interchangeable. The only difference is the spline count on the axle shafts. the 14 is 30 spline and I think the Eaton is 17 spline. Well, I've got a set of axle shafts too, so that's not a problem.
Here's a thread on the Eaton's. Guys run the 17 spline shafts with 44's all the time.

I've also got a thick Yukon 4.88 R&P for the 14 bolt. I'd do a package deal for $500 for the locker, shafts, and the R&P. I can't set up R&P's, but I could help you set the backlash on your current R&P after you install the detroit.

I only want to sell them as a package. Otherwise I've got a guy who wants to trade me the Detroit for a set of Dana 60 shafts and lockouts.

I've also got a Ford HP 44 with 4.88's and a detroit, high steer, and all new brakes and ball joints, and a Ford NP205. I'd make you a deal on those too if you wanted to do a 203/205 doubler and run the High Pinion front axle. The spring pad width is the same on the ford and chevy's, so it should bolt in.

Yesterday was not the greatest day for the big Chevy's.

Here are a couple pics before **** broke.

And here is where the fun ended for the day. I was just cruising along the river when all the sudden I just sank into "quick sand" and it was all over from there.

Somewhere along the time of sitting in the water for an hour and trying to get winched out, something broke in my front axle not allowing 4wd to work. It was a nightmare getting it out of the river... then I got stuck in some mud/sand, that sucked ass. THEN we hit the soft white sand. That stuff just sucks ass. I couldn't even move cause I had 2wd and the other 2 guys could barley move in 4wd. Eventually we got it unstuck AGAIN and made it back to the highway where we loaded up and drove home.

4wd will work sometimes for a little bit, then it will POP really loud and stop working. We're guessing maybe spider gears?? I don't know, i'll have to take it apart(which will be a learning experience). It's currently leaking a greenish ooze from the pinion seal and my front and rear brakes are not too happy either.

I don't like sand at all right now.

Anyways, here are a few more pics....

Still drove it home after all of that though. And apparantly there was so much sand in my hub cap, it flew off on the way home. Im kinda pissed about that.

I know, right? My exact thoughts. :haha:
It might be a while before I got back to the river. I want to go to Tuttle for my next offroad trip. I'll at least have a locker then.

I went and powerwashed all the sand off of it so I could start working on it and I think it looks pretty good still without the caps. Still looks better with them though.

This is about as far as I got before it started raining. I'll have to try again later or tomorrow.

That's funny, I don't remember filling my axle with egg nog... :doah:
