'78 K10 Build

The 36s aren't too bad on my truck. I don't know if the weight of the Cummins helps? I noticed that the tire only rides on the very center portion. I would think the radials would help alot. You just have to get them hot and avoid the occasional death wobble.

I remember reading in this thread where 78SWB said that his truck rode 100x better when he mounted on the TSLs to replace the RT IIs. Then he said the BFG's ride 10x better than the TSLs. I'm not good at math but 100 x 10= 1000X better! I bet that short wheel base rides smooth like a Caddy! I think hydraulic assist is the best steering stabilizer money can buy to help eliminate any wobble :D

Yep my death wobble is gone. Mine was bad enough I could have rented out my truck to Ace hardware to shake paint.

Haha I may have exaggerated a little, but that is pretty spot on, it's amazing what a nicer set of tires will do. Hydro assist is on my list of to-do's in the near future after the engine swap.

Pulled the TBI yesterday.

Gonna clean it up and paint it orange?

Martin

Been thinking about it. What color for the intake? Nick and I were thinking dull alum. Black valve covers and accy's. Might look more period correct if I painted it orange for the K10. If not orange then black.

It supposedly has 30k miles on it since either a rebuld or being a new engine, so I'll just do new gaskets/seals and paint it.

Just clean all the paint off the intake and leave it aluminum.

Martin

That's not as easy as it sounds. I spent 2 hours with acid and paint stripper to get mine back to the bare aluminum

Got some work done yesterday.

Are the back most coolant ports supposed to be blocked off on these motors like this? I left one gasket on for the pic so you could see what im taking about. Maybe it's supposed to be like that, but it doesn't seem right.

It is in the passenger rear on that truck as well. That intake gasket is right. If you look at the intake manifold, it feeds that back port from the front of the engine, underneath the manifold.
