'78 K10 Build

For now get a ac idler then get a non smog pump belt. Leave the egr. Egr prevents part throttle detonation and helps mpgs. Stop trying to make this harder than it is. Save all the ac stuff for this winters project.

Look up the heated o2 sensor modification (95 blazer sensor) and weld a bung in your collector.

Ok I'll keep the EGR. Trying to decide if I should do the ORD twin stick while I have things apart... Not sure I wanna mess with it now though. I guess I need an 86+ flywheel for the TBI engine now too. Want to have the TBI out of the truck this week to start getting it ready to go in the K10.

Hmm I used the flywheel off my 383, what's different about your flywheel? Or are you saying you need the flywheel due to the new bell housing?

Also need ideas for the fuel system? The tank the donor truck came with is too big and supposedly rusty at the bottom. Don't really want to run a fuel cell but I know the belly tank will be in the way of a future cage/sliders.

If he leaves his tanks and uses the in line pump he has he won't have to mess with senders at all. I think he want them outa the way for the future tho

That and I need to get my fuel lines/pump wrapped or something to keep it from vapor locking.

We will pull the braided lines from Tb down to filter/ pump and they will be fine by the headers

Instal the TBI sending unit in your existing trucks tanks and run em like that until you decide on sliders and such. In line pumps suck. And the K5 tank in the bed is a good idea, but its a PITA to fill, and IMO looks kinda lame.

And an 02 in the Y-pipe will NEVER heat up unless your crusing for a decent amount of time, especially with full length headers that flow spent gasses faster and dont build up heat. Mine are in the reducer after the headers and wouldnt warm up and close loop unless you held the pedal at 2k for upwards of 5 min straight. Either put it in the header close to the head, or run a 93 S-10 one and wire it into the fuse box. I went heated 02 route, and soldered a pigtail in so its easily removable.

If I were you (and I'm not), I would try to get everything as close to the original setup as I could, including welding the O2 sensor bung to my header and using the in-tank fuel pump like the TBI was designed to run. Of course, as my mom would say, there's more than one way to skin a cat.

Definitely run an in tank pump and get a heated O2, or you will have TERRIBLE gas mileage and it won't run to its fullest
