ok so i had an issue.. if you saw my ORD Zero Rate post...
I took them off and messed up a ubolt... i know should always buy new.. got that straightened out..
took the truck to the inspection station...
well u know how i did.. of course i have never passed first time through..
so where to start..
i get there.. guy waves me in...
hand over paperwork...
1. measures door height
2. enters info into computer
3. measures tires... measures again and again and again.. and checking the previous passed paperwork.. cuz they passed it and under actual tire diameter they put 38"... and i know they are 38.25" or 38.5" to which they told me wouldnt pass...
4. looked over the entire lift.. different items and checking things...
5. had me rock the steering back and forth while they checked underneath..
-- had me get out of truck to show me something...
-- passenger ubolts loosened up a bit on drive there... i didnt pre drive and let it all settle and retighten.. oh well...
-- while rocking the steering wheel they showed me that the cross member was rocking.. weird thing is i have all rivets but for 1.
-- while still rocking showed me that the power steering box was moving so that was loose
6. had me pull up for emissions... they were having problems with their machine... they put an adapter on plug 1 and it kept on messing up reading 30k rpms... weird things.. they finally got it squared away...
7 drive up to final station....
and then he scraped off my old inspection station...... and put my new sticker on......
a
rejected sticker.... oh well.. i didnt figure i was going to pass at first round as i never do...
so i failed emissions... co% max is 3 i was 5. I am reading that the air/fuel screws are out of wack....
now funny thing is he said i can go to any shop or state inspection after i get the emissions portion fixed....so going to shoot for saturday...
after i get that inspection sticker i have to schedule to go back to the high rise guys.... and they will check to see if i tightened up all the bolts.. i already tightened them up.... but for 1.. going to finish a job i started and never finished...
when i put the ord steering brace on....
i did the long Y bar.. but not the small piece... im going to run out today and go get a bolt for that... i misplaced the bolt as i have had this kit for 6 years or so and havent put it on...
sooo during tightening i found...
1 bolt (3 rivets in the other spots and 1 bolt)... tightened that bolt up...
both bolts for Y ORD brace were loose... tightened them up...
tightened up the Ubolts again.. and used a 2' pipe in addition to a 1/2" ratchet.
the truck used to have a sway bar.. the 4 bolt holes showed that the front ones were a funky brace that kinda also can add support... so i put 2 grade 8 bolts into them.....
so once i get that final power steering pump bolt in.. im done with that portion of the inspection (but cant go back till emissions is passed)....
so going to adjust up the carb and try and go saturday morning...
fyi.. NJ is a pain in the arse... but for cars/trucks non modified.. they only do emissions test....
for high rise they pretty much did away with the lights, wipers, horn check but still did the normal lifted stuff and emissions.....
the guy mentioned that i may want to get a brace that they make.. i said it is on there.. well half... but will finish the install... i then said they also make a weld in brace for additional support... i asked if that was legal and he said no... no welding is allowed on the frame.. so not sure what has to be done if the frame cracked at the pump...
