'78 K20 - RootBreaker from 1990 - nov 2025 8.1L not runnin

So i have been fixing little inexpensive things on my truck. This build thread really never got typed in 2004 when i did tons of work so its more of corney stuff...

So with that.. my sm465 mounts need to be addressed now as they are cheap. Summer is repack front and motor mounts..

So what i need to know is what do i need for sm465? Google pics dont show much..

Here is what i got and autozone shows 2 mounts. 1 of each per side?

fyi my 14b 6 nub socket fit the d60.. weird...
That’s a good thing. Probably because you’re a is newer. When I bought those, it was a one fits one

Makes it nicer on the tool box too not having to carry both Offroad

so I'm curious what color wire is it that goes from the headlight switch to the gauges lights. I need to get to this. I don't have any lights and I don't think its the switch. I need to make sure the wire has voltage and if it doesn't, go backwards till it does.

SCORE!!!!

$50 with wires. My first ford part[and only] for my chevy. 2003 Ford windstar electric fans. I hear these out perform expensive aftermarket kits and i got plugs with some wires20171213_171439.jpg

Lol i got super adhd!!!

Ill get to the lights.. wire color was a random thought.

Next up... so looking at diagram i stole from another thread... they have a temp sensor. Does that mean fans will come on and off with temp?

So i guess best to use is on tstat neck? Assuming one im not using..use that?

Also what is this other? Its on driverside of 1991 caprice police 350...FanDiagram12-17-2010.jpg 20171213_194558.jpg 20171213_194647.jpg

Top is the gauge sender, second is the TBI ECM temp input

Top is the gauge sender....

when you say top you are saying top picture? so the side of the motor plug between the spark plugs is the wire that should go to the temp gauge?

I am using what is in the 2nd pic.. on the right (I broke the connector off so need to fix that) but it has the 2 plugs... on left your saying is TBI ECM temp input ??

Yes

I have my fans setup to come on at different temps. Most driving it only needs 1 fan, I use the larger. I had the temperature activated switch for the larger fan in the coolant passage in the intake. It comes on at the same temperature as the thermostat fully opens.

The smaller fan comes on at higher temps. 10° higher than the thermostat opens if I remember correctly. This one works okay in the thermostat housing.

If you want the fan(s) coming on about the same temperature as the thermostat opens, I found the thermostat housing doesn't work well for that. I think because it is only exposed to the coolant after the thermostat is full open which results in a delay before the fan comes on.

@mrk5 - so you are saying.. I should/could put the 195F switch listed below in the thermostat housing, but I should also add say a 185F to the block?
this way the fans are off until 185F to which the big one comes on (I have a 180F thermostat), then "IF" gets to 195F, little fan comes on?

@mechted - original wiring diagram
windstar fan wiring - Don't beat me up!

@pblaze725 - going to use how he mounted his fans and maybe if I do a 2nd temp switch into the block where he put his temp sender to fix his gauge

ummm... 85dB is probably going to be too loud. But for that price, and the fact you have already ordered it, I would just try to baffle the thing with several wraps of electrical tape to quiet it down
