79' GMC C15 - Spruce Caboose

79 GMC 1500
Heated seats would be nice. When I get in the C10 on cold mornings I'm always surprised how much firmer the seat is. I usually have to let more slack out of the lap belt to get it latched.

So many reasons for heated seats i wouldnt have ever thought of really. Im looking now to find a set of seat warmers, one thing i hate about amazon is there is too much junk to sift through!

You know what’s really epic… heated steering wheel!

No I don’t have one, kid does in his truck, life changing at -20 or colder.

Good thing for me our vehicles sit in the heated garage, his is outside.

The heated seats in our Murderano is why we still have it. I need to upgrade the seats in my trucks. I'll add heaters when I recover them.
Only way my old ass gets going some days.

So much discussion about bun warmers.
I haven't pushed the button for the seat heat in my truck in days...

Man that is no joke. Get in a cold vehicle and grab a toasty steering wheel. Life changing.

I have the side vent pointed right at my hand on the steering wheel in the winter. If it's really cold, gotta have gloves on too. I could be wearing an uninsulated jacket and still want insulated gloves on.

I still have my cold weather mc gloves for really cold days....

Ive never had such luxuries, but the thought of that is nice.

itd be sweet to have the back independent of the seat, so you could choose

Once I stop buying stuff maybe I'll have money for seat warmers...

Found these locally. As hard as they are to find, I think people rolling around in a 73-75 on the island that needs door panels...., might be harder to find. Found these for 200 bucks. Not interested in the bags if anyone would want a set. Apparently they are hard to find in good shape?

The panels and inserts from LMC would be 850. Canadian...

That is in excellent condition for the age and much better than I typically find.

That makes me feel better about the purchase. I seem to be having a hard time coming to terms with the price hike in squarebody stuff, over the last 2-3 years.. I guess all the 60s to 71 Chevy's are all rotted or restored at this point and the trend is moving on to squares..

Hard for me to reason with people who are in it for profit and not the love of them

That shows up in every hobby. When a hobby is popular, they are popping up everywhere. When a hobby is niche market and unpopular, they are still there but in smaller quantity or not specializing in that one vehicle/brand. For some people, the sale of extra parts help fund their hobbies without breaking the household budget (this is where I land), others don't have a day job and only make a living dealing with hobbyists (like a friend of mine who sells new and used parts), and others just don't know what stuff is worth.

The reality is, it doesn't matter what someone is asking for their parts. It will only sell if a buyer and seller agree on the price. If you don't like the asking price, make an offer and try to negotiate what is reasonable for yourself. If that doesn't work you can pony up, find another option, or live without it. A 4th option exists where a seller may lower the price later if no one wants to pay what they ask, but no guarantee you will see it first.

In this case, $200 for rare nice, original used parts that fit perfect vs $800 for questionable quality, aftermarket parts doesn't sound like a bad deal. Most of the greedy sellers try to ask as much if not more than reproduction prices for the nice used parts.

I totally agree. I have no problems with people making money on parts, I was more referring to the ones you mention at the end. I've heard alot of " that's what they sell for on eBay " lately from people.. and it kinda makes me want to kick them in the knee cap, but like you said, a sale doesn't happen unless both people do their part in it. I just hate walking away from nice parts that some guy refuses to let go of, for less than my foot , for pure profits sake.

I do think I've kept some good karma because I've luckily ran into some wicked parts on this build, for a very decent price. I'll keep selling my parts at a very fair price and hopefully it keeps coming back to me.

And maybe I'm dumb but I thought the LMC ones would fit nice by now :doah: :haha:

I've think I've been tainted after seeing a few really nice aftermarket body panels.

The passenger panel is definitely a tad dinked. I don't think it'll fit too well up top.. but I'm just stoked to have some interior door panels at all

Stumbled upon a t5 with the bucket option added . Maayyybe it'll make its way into the c10. I got it for almost free because it's got a ruined input/main shaft, and assuming first gear may be toast alsk.. It also came out of a 89 Camaro so it's got that degreed trans mount.. apparently the tailshafts out of the s10 t5s are properly clocked at 6pm.

Ive been wanting to try my abilities rebuild a trans in general, and why not a 5 speed. Doing some research on making them stronger, g force sells whole main shafts which include some choice of gearing ratios.
( rated up to 500ftlb). No real plans of this going in the c10 but I will definitely want to rebuild it and keep it for something. If rebuilding this and installing it in the truck is as expensive as getting a dialed up 4l60e... It may be worth the hasles of converting to a third pedal..
