'79 K10 Step Side Rusty Rex

79K10 Stepside
Lol! Ive always said, there are 2 kinds of people in this word.
Those with stepsides, (say it with me Dean ) and those who want one!

Do you still have the 2 Step sides from your build thread list? That's sort of a pipe dream of mine that I Joke about with my girl, that I need the 2wd version step side in hot rod form. You know, have a set and all. I try to get her to pay for it, but no dice.

I've already read your build threads in the past, when I see a step side in the banner of builds at the top here I always scope it out. Yours are awesome.

Thanks! Yes, I still have them. The red truck is mothballed currently. But I should be back on it in 2021. The white one is just a driver right now. But the big block will be done soon for a proper street bruiser conversion.
The lifted 4x4/slammed 2wd was always a dream of mine to. Guess I'm literally living that dream.

Lol! If I ever find a box I’d cut mine down.

Years ago when I had a blazer that I turned into a "Trazer" I wanted to turn it into a shorty step side, That Blazer was a 75, I regretted turning it into the Trazer thing. I was young and super dumb, still dumb now just a little older. The only reason I ever turned it into a Trazer was I didn't have the top and nobody at that time made the soft top. So I saw some other people on Pirate 4x4 had made trazers and how to do it, and had a coworker give me a decent cab. And the rest was history/mistakes.

Then about 6 months after finishing the trazer with a half ass tube frame rear made by me, soft topper started making tops again and for the 73-75 models. I was literally almost sick when i saw that. I tried to pin down a local canvas shop to build me a top and they didn't want to, I really exhausted options and struck out, never saw a 73-75 hard top anywhere. I lived in Montana and wanted a top, I cruised around for a while without one wearing warm clothes, but it got old so I built that trazer, and sold it to get money to keep my C-hole x-wife off my back about money. One land mine after another, like a lot of car guys suffer.

So, Long story even longer when I realized I loved the look of step side fenders I knew all I ever wanted was a step side. So here I am going balls deep with cash and time into this rusty POS that has a hammered body and nice running gear. ill be on my fourth induction setup and have never put 1000 miles on it probably in almost 2 years. :thumb:

Haha good story! Funny thing is I’ve had my truck over 10 years and I don’t think I put more than 50 miles on it. No kidding! I’ve never registered or insured it, just used a yard truck and basically a time killer or something to do when I’m bored. I’ve never had a step side 4x4 and you never see them around here any more. My brother has my dads old 82 step side 2x4. They are just cool!

Really liking where you are going with yours!

Pull that tank out of the box and make sure the filler neck seam isn’t cracked where it meets the tank. Common issue with the $hitty packaging.
