They should be reusable, as far as I know. I wouldn't think that you need studs.
No need for studs on a mild NA small block Ray. Head bolts are not TTY so should be able to be re-used.
I don't think I've ever seen a pic of your K5 before. Maybe I missed it...I always thought you had a diesel 'burb and that was it? Anyways, the K5 looks fantastic, I'm glad to see you building it up now!

You are correct. I picked up the K5 in Jan. Drove to CA and drove it home. NC

Love the white. Mine was all white before I painted it. Is yours a 79 or 80?

getting an epidural for my bulging disc tomorrow. I did some yard work yesterday and can hardly move today. Stiff as a board....
Having shoulder repaired July 18, that will put me down for a bit.
The cam is still 2 or 3 months out. Going to do my best to have the heads ready before surgery.
Just waiting on the valve spring compressor.
When I'm done with the K5 I'm taking the 400 and dropping it in 3/4 ton burb.
After some upgrades...hehehe
Cam, heads, exhaust, and a 1000 cfm ProFlo 1.

Haven't gotten much done due to personal bidness
But I did just pull the drivers side head, everything looks clean so far.
The machined surfaces on the head need cleaned. Exhaust & intake surfaces.
P.s. all manually, no impacts. My shoulder is angry lol

I remember now some years back I douched the cylinders with wd40 and put some plugs in.
Its a crate motor i bought in 05 for my exes truck. We split in 06 so I kept it.
I have a multiport efi system that's going on. Going to put it in my 79 K5.
