79 K5 H-Bomb build

They were on the interco blemish website only (not actual blemish tires, but they were listed on that page at the bottom with a "Non-Blemish" heading in their section). As far as I know there are none to purchase new right now. They are kinda a special tire that are made in their plant in India that were mainly designed for farm tractors over there in that part of the world. When they make big runs of them and have a bunch left over, they throw them on the blemish website to sell to the consumer market. Mine say "NHS" for Non Highway Servicable and also have stamped on the side "Made in India"....but when I saw them listed they were the cheapest big tire out there (about $300 or so cheaper than any 42" tire I got quoted for at this time last year) so I jumped all over it....I'm really glad I did :D

Good score... guess I'm getting ahead of myself anyhow. I still have to get the suspension bolted up (again) and see how she sits. After that I'll order the tires. My 5 year old son is begging for "BIG TIRES". lol. He refers to the truck as "his".

Meh... Good news/bad news scenario.

Finally got back out to the shop to flip the shackle mounts for the 56s. Discovered that I should have listened and just got the stock 56 springs and not the lifted ones. The picture is more forgiving than it is... there is a SERIOUS forward rake.

So I sat there pissed that I ordered the wrong springs for a bit.... then I looked at the 38s

They look TINY.... then I thought to myself that running 44s would be pretty damn easy now. I have some 4" 52s that I can run up front that should even it out. Yes, the rig will be taller than I wanted but that actually might be a good thing as I'll be less tempted to use it as a "crawler" and more of a "mud truck" which will help keep the body panels straight.

Who knows... maybe I'll change my mind again. In the meantime I'm going to throw the lifted springs up front and call a buddy with 44s and bolt them up to see where I'm at.

You might be surprised...that lift height with 44's might work pretty well. I only have ~5" of total lift with the 44's, and it was quite a bit of work to get the those tires to work, especially in the front (LOTS of cutting and modifying pretty much everything)...but I love the look of my truck with the low stance and big meats. If you have the lifted front springs, I say throw them on, get some 44's and run them for a while. Then later on if you want to lower the truck, its just as simple as throw some stock height 52's/56's on there and modify as needed. At least that way it will get on the road quicker

In fact...look through @ChrisPerry build thread here:

https://ck5.com/forums/threads/75-k5-on-44s-chrisperrys-build-thread.278198/

By the time all was said and done, he is probably just as tall as what you will be with that setup. I wheeled with him last year at Blazer Bash and his worked really well. He just cut up the front of his rig (saw pics in the BB16 picture thread...he hasn't updated his build thread in a while) but overall I think your setup can work really well too

If it were me I would sell the 4" front and rear springs to someone else that really wants that much lift and get the stock replacements and run the 38s. The extra lift and 44s are definitely going to reduce streetability. This truck is so nice it's needs to be driven often.

Man, this is a tough one... I've had fantasies of running 44s since I was kid. Unfortunately, the old man in me now says I should run something more "reasonable".

My 5 year old son wants a "big truck".... Hmmm decisions, decisions.

I would go this route too, that damn truck is too nice. It would look great on 38's with stock 52/56's and plenty capable offroad and driving down the street.

find a Nebraska rust bucket for the 44's and cut the shit out of it, not this truck.

Yup. Nebraska shit box for the win! Hahah

@truck-oholic you are running 41.5s right?

Going to replace my stock body mounts (going to use my 1"body lift to help fit the 203/205 doubler)... I'm looking on LMC right now. What have people had better luck with, the rubber or poly bushings?

I think I remember most people saying poly was cheaper and that they didn't have any problems w/ them such as squeeks...

My blazer squeeks even when I look at it....body mount squeeks are the least of my worries :D....but I guess my blazer isn't in as good as shape as the beauty in this thread

Read through @ChrisPerry build... looks like a lot of cutting went into running those 44s even with that much lift (which seems to be much like mine). Hmmm.

You have to remember when looking at Perry's truck, he is running 19.5 wide tires on a really wide rim. That makes the tire "look" more "baloonish" than normal. It was amazing when I parked my truck by his last year at blazer bash how much skinnier my tires looked than his....and of course, the fact I only run H1's which are a skinnier rim, helps the tire to not look as wide

For sure... I am planning on what ever tire I end up with on these beadlocks I picked up. I believe they are 9" wide (17"). The 38s are some tires I picked up in a trade... never really intended on running them on this project. Seems like most 44s I've looked at are SUPER wide. If you drop to a 41.5/42/43 there are more options for a skinnier tire.
