79 K5 H-Bomb build

Ok... maybe my brain isnt thinking straight but even with crossover steering won't the drag link still be an issue? Kinda seems like the same spot would be an issue.... I suppose you get a little more angle with the drag link aiming "up" but seems like the same potential of interference.

Nope, I have crossover and never had a single issue with it (mainly what helps is the fact it's angling down to the axle and there is a fixed point on one side of the frame...so really only time it will be somewhat close is when the passenger tire is stuffed, but even then it doesn't hit, just like a panhard bar setup on a front link system). But many have run into issues with the ram hitting the cross members at full bump/stuff. You are a little bit taller so you might not have that issue, but I think you said you want to lower it down some which might cause some issues.

All I'm saying is the costs start adding up to run high steer that to be honest with you, once again this is just my opinion, really isn't that big of a deal. Sure if you want to rock bounce this thing and hit rocks so freaking hard it's not even funny, then sure high steer is worth it, but if you plan to wheel it like normal people do, then just a beef tie rod will suffice.

In the end, do what you want and it will still be a kick a$$ rig, but we are just trying to give you a different perspective is all

I honestly really appreciate your perspective along with everyone elses... 95% of the reason I'm sharing my build is too gain insight to what has worked for others. I always encourage feedback, positive or negative.

Before I change anything at this point... I really think I need to order my tires. Based on how things look and fit, I think I'll have a better idea on how to move the suspension and steering around. Still thinking that the 41.5 pitbulls are what make sense (although I keep looking at yours with the 44s and it makes me very very jealous).

and FWIW I've had a hi-steer setup sitting on the shelf for a couple years, hasn't been something I've felt is worth the effort. I also don't have Reid's and I don't want that extra stress on the stock knuckles.

My brother just picked up 47" LTB's to put on his rig...makes me look small now :rotfl:. There will always be the pissing contest with tire sizes....sometimes its worth it to resist the urge to participate in the pissing contest and really look at your overall use of the truck. Really, I was just trying to find some 42's when I was looking and to this day I feel like 42's would have worked really well...but is was a $ thing that I found my 44's on such a screaming deal that I couldn't pass up on it and dealt with the changes I had to make to get them to work well on a rig with only 5" of lift. So I think the 41.5 pitbulls would look freaking sick on this thing.

I aint gonna lie though...seeing my low slung K5 on 44" boggers does give me wood....was that too much information? :ignore:

Na, I think everyone that looks at your rig has to adjust their shorts...

I've got 4 41.5 pitbulls in my cart and ready to check out... I just need to click the button. Not sure what it'll take to make me just do it.

Hahaha, blue balled by the back order, those puppies are going to be sore! For what it's worth, Interco makes a 41" Radial Irok in a 17, 18, 20, & 22" wheel size that may be more readily available and likely cheaper alternative to the Radial Rockers.

For price comparison on 4WP, the 41 Radial Iroks for 17 wheel are $515 each and the Boggers you linked are $552 each, both cheaper than the 41.5 Radial Rocker I believe

Meh... I think I'll hold out for the pitbulls. It's not like this thing is going to be on the road for a bit.

Tires ordered... this is my boy's reaction after learning about bigger tires. =. After all, this is his truck. :)

Also got out to the shop last night and ditched the rear shims and overload leafs which dropped it at about1.5 inches. Looks like more when you look at the rig though... it actually rakes back now. Hopefully I can get to the shop and remove the zero rates tonight or tomorrow. I am counting on the new spring pack and the "add-a-leaf" up front will settle a bit and I get it to drop a bit more.

I've had both high steer and an aftermarket tie rod in the stock location. I am hard on my stuff. I would never recommend high steer to anyone. I feel it is unnecessary on 95% of rigs.

nothing picture worthy but got the blocks taken out of the front and the rig looks pretty darn level. I'm happy as I lost about 2" of height in the rear and an inch of front. High Steer tie rod clears fine now... Just need to pick up a new drag link and ends (maybe a pitman arm too). Also got a chance to install the Yukon 35spline hubs... I forgot what a pain (and mess) installing hubs are.

I am also curious if anyone has any experience with Dual Fuel kits from gotpropane or kits like it. I have a normal gotpropane setup already and it seems more cost effective than moving to a fuel injection system like FItech or Fast... I also like the simplicity of propane.

That's what I'm freaking talking about....gotta love the pit bulls!!

But wait... there is more. I couldnt take it so I mounted one tire. Still waiting on the dyna beads...

Then I decided to see what the ring would look like in black (used plasti-dip so its 100% reversible). What do you guys think of the black ring?
