That's a pretty minor clearance issue. I wouldn't be afraid to grind that edge off.
X2 on the headers? What are they?
And I would not use the stock manifolds - any BBC header will bolt onto the 8.1
Hahahaha!, maybe ready for some snow action if I'm lucky.
Boxing the frame is going to take some time. Good thing I bought that plasma cutter.
I am using the diy4x frame boxing kit on my 74. It is cheap and the fit on my frame was really good. Saves a ton of time.

Meant to ask, does the diy4x kit box the frame on the outside of the rail or does it fit inside the frame rail?
fits to the outside of the frame. I have some pics if you are interested.

Crap, that's what I thought. I plan on boxing just inside the rails with speed holes drilled about every 6 to 8 inches. If I have to trim the kit that much, might as well start from scratch.
Definately interested in the pics. Who knows, maybe it'll change my mind![]()
I wonder if you came up with that idea by your self?Crap, that's what I thought. I plan on boxing just inside the rails with speed holes drilled about every 6 to 8 inches. If I have to trim the kit that much, might as well start from scratch.

Check out the iron maiden build, he used Kerts boxing kit.
Looks good. I'll have to call DIY4X and find out if he is selling the kit with the mods for the K5 that he made for that build. When I talked to him the other day Kert just mentioned the short box kit.True. I have seen photos where they went crazy with a hole saw on the inter and outer frame rail. There wasn't much stability and rigidity left.Nice job!
Hate to burst your bubble, but, that technique has been around for ages. Ol' school hot rodder trick.![]()

Plasma table then dimpled died the holes. What did you use to punch the holes in your frame? Looks like they have a rounded inner edge.
