Yeah I use a grease needle depending on how little the opening is where the spring sits and just pack that area with some plain old grease and it helps keep the spring from ever popping out. Never had one do it in 15 yrs as a professional mechanic.

Most guy's at my dealership which is a Toyota store have never seen a grease needle till I showed them one. Really????:dunno:

Guess comes from working at Chevy for 3 years.

Prior to the other night I had never lost a spring...
Cap, rotor & replaced a bad vaccume line this morning. Got my other 2 tires & wheels picked up. I get to cross some stuff off my list! Wish I had bought AC Delco ignition parts. The finish on my parts store replacements is not that good. From now on I will buy factory replacements when I can.

Going to order winch line & a control box for the M12,000 today. The replacement solenoids I got a while back were junk & the wiring inside my control box is not great. I'll either sell off the old box or keep it for parts. Can't afford anything but steel replacement winch line.

EJS prep!
This morning plug wires. Cut off the exaust in preparation for the Flowmaster Y-pipe & re routing of tubes so I can bolt up the skid plate. Using a heated O2 sensor with the new free flowing Y. The old O2 sensor threatened to not come out, but I got it.

Moab countdown!
Operational winch! Replaced whole control pack after replacing solenoids did not work. New control pack came with a new controller. Old "new" controller would not operate winch. Only has 3 pins as opposed to new controllers 5. Leads me to believe that controll pack was probably good, there was a controller incompatibility issue. Now I have spare winch parts, can't hurt. Also had a little time this morning to do a little more on the exaust. I'd like to have that tied up by Monday & move on to the skid.

Those are good winches. We run them on all our utility trucks. Like 18,000-20,000lb F550s. The guys will get them stuck then run a single winch line and just pull as hard as they can. They last pretty long for the abuse they take and being way too small for the application.

New improved fuel pump in. Adjusted the float in hopes of improving gas gauge accuracy. Bolted down the winch & fairlead, added a stud to positive side of battery. Got some good work done on the exaust with new Flowmaster Y pipe. More to do there but I ran out of exaust tubing. It's going to be a mismatch smorgasbord of tube but clean in function. Got the other hub inside & ready to install. Heated O2 sensor in, needs 2 wires. Cut a peice of steel to finish back of cab. Installed torque converter cover, had to drill & tap all new holes. It must have came off the 700R4. Bunch of boring work done, bunch left to do!

Bolted on my new Y-pipe. I'm going to get some header wrap for the section that hugs the tranny pan. I had to tuck it in there tight so I can install the skid plate. Went to wire the new heated O2 sensor & could not find the O2 wire. After an hour I finally spotted it up in neverland. Performed a feat of one handed magic to get it plugged in. I have the hot wire for the O2 power ran but still need to finalize wiring. Spooled cable on the winch.

I wouldn't concern yourself with wrapping that y pipe. The factory runs them there all the time. A nice sized tranny cooler will cool that off no problem.

Edit:. A 92-93 S10 O2 is a 3 wire plug if I remember correctly. You can buy the male 3 wire matching plug from Autozone or wherever then you can hook your single wire O2 sending wire into that male, along with your 12+ and ground and then it's a simpler setup with a very common O2.

I got my heated O2 from Harris Performance, the TBI guy. He provides a custom plug made for the conversion, pretty slick

Are you sure the driveshaft won’t make contact with the exhaust at full bump?

Sure, no, pretty sure, yes. I don't have a ton of up travel & the shaft does not travel too much at that point. As soon as my yard drys out enough to pull this pig out I'll check.

I believe he has a low pinion axle so it should be ok.

So do I, smashed the shit out my exhaust.

Worth a flex and look for sure.
