Excuse me, I was told there would be cracks.

I pulled the front end today. Cleaned up the frame a bit and it looks like I don't have any cracks. There is one suspect spot, but I think it's just a crease from the stamping. Do you guys see anything

It's in! I also put in the hydro boost while I was at it. The front end sits about 2" taller than the rear with the 3" springs. I hope they settle down a bit. I plan on moving the zero rates I had on the old springs to the rear once I get my hands on come center pins. I have no idea where my set of tie rod ends are at so Ill have to order some of those to make a tie rod. And the steering box is leaking. I guess thats what I get for pulling one off of a truck without rebuilding it.

Update, Holy death wobble batman. Driving around initially to make sure it all was good I had a good amount of low speed death wobble. I don't know what the toe is at since I just tossed on the original tie rod and I didn't put the steering stabilizer on. I may end up having to toss some washers on the king pin springs or buy those poly spring eliminators. We will see once I get a tie rod made.

The hydro boost is awesome. Firm consistent pedal feel that will lock up the tires no problem if you want to. I haven't swapped over the brake pedal yet since I couldn't figure out how to get that giant spring off of the clutch pedal. Any Ideas on that one?

I was planning on doing my rear gears today, I woke up late and ended up going to pick up a Star BM surplus pistol. So today I guess Ill clean the garage and get ready to do the gears tomorrow.
 
I just popped that massive clutch spring off of my '78. It was a pain in the ass. It took 2 large screw drivers at just the right angles and a lot of swearing. A cutoff wheel would have saved me a lot of time.
 
I think a little less backlash to get it down to the toe a little bit. But I think the top/root seems okay. What do you think?

Used gears? Looks like what they were run at before. I'd run it.
 
You can see the prerun pattern on them in the second pic. Very close match to it.

I hate trying to get that first bolt lined up, and the pitman arm off. Looks like I am just going to return this junk and order a rebuild kit online for the box I have now.
 
I'm notorious for bad steering box voodoo.
The one on my truck now is a kluge, and its been the best one yet.

Just remember to keep the balls sorted on reassembly. I can take a picture of the service manual if you need
 
Picked up a new front shaft from Tom woods yesterday. Every cap in the cv was broken with no bearings left on the old one.
