'82 Burb, "Red Rum"

Got the burb out in the dirt for the first time today, nothing major, just a run out to a G.P.A.A. gold claim 70 miles from the house, 6 of it on dirt roads. It has rained a bit up in the desert this week so we had some puddles and mud to run through.

Only casualty of the day was my grill, looks like it didn't like the washboard roads on the way out.

right on!!!

but how freaking hot was it out there? Off the 15?
Trying to get out again, maybe a few weeks down the road.

It was close to 100, but after the last couple weeks I guess we got used to it. Yeah, heading up the 15, 1 exit passed Cleghorn.

ugg, Rob and I called off Azusa canyon off roading, too damn hot especially if there isn't any wind. Ended up just going to the shooting range, brought his boy out too. Spent about 4 hours out there.

Looking to hit Azusa again soon. Is that grill gonna be fixed in the next few weeks lol

I'll fix it tomorrow after work, after I wash the mud off. I am like you, I HATE the mud, I would rather crawl than bog. Too much time in clean up and making sure no water or mud got in where it doesn't belong.

In the beginning of September I noticed on of my shock bushings were gone, so I pulled the shocks and all the bushings were falling apart and the shocks were toast. I looked at Bilsteins, but for the $$$ and my limited usage, I went with Rancho 9000 XL's, it helped make my decision that Rancho's Shocktober fest was going on (buy 3 get 1 free). I ended up paying $90.38 per shock with price matching and got my $90.38 gift card in the mail today, so under $300 out the door for 4 new shocks.

Then I got tired of smoky diesel goodness rolling in the truck, so I had new mufflers and the tailpipes put back on.

Now, my question to everyone is, will a crossover pipe quiet some of the raspiness.

With it getting dark earlier every day, I had to do something about my dim gauges. I ended up getting the LED's from Pep Boys, I didn't wanna wait the 1 week shipping in order to save $11.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

LED's used:

Looks much brighter in person.

I am sure this is partially to blame for the red tinge.

Busy week wrenching on the 'burb, got a rear window motor installed and working. Also got an XJ shaft and installed it, steering is much better with more road feel.:burb:

We are taking a 2 week vacation in the beginning of April, driving up to gold country in Nor Cal, so I had to get some new speakers to drown out the rattle on the 10 hours drive. Went for a cruise today and with the radio up I couldn't hear the engine!:waytogo:

Still checking things off the to do list for my trip. Unladen, I had a vibration coming from the driveline, turns out I was in need of a longer driveshaft, here is a pic of the yoke and how far it was or wasn't in the tailshaft.

I dropped the driveshaft off to Powertrain Industries here in Whittier at 11 a.m. this morning and got the call at 4:36 p.m. that it was ready. Will pick up and install in the morning after dropping the munchkin off at school.

Dropped the driveshaft in and got jealous of other peoples stickers, so I slapped a few on mine.

Also grabbed some lights to fill the holes in my bumper.

A buddy borrowed my truck to run to a friends house, I come home to a drip cloth under the steering box. This morning I find this.

Recommendations on a good replacement, money is no problem as he is paying for it.
