Chinahands submitted a new Build:

82 K20 CREW "WONTON"

I've finally been convinced to make a build thread. I picked up this truck in January from a friend.

The story behind the truck is a few too many beers, a tree and a big mud hole. It got stuck in a spillway for a pond. Then it rained and the truck sat in 3 feet of water for 2 months.

It was exactly what I wanted and knowing that I would go through everything anyways it was a good buy.

As I bought it.
82 K20 crew cab
350 swap (started life as a diesel)
Nv4500
Dana 60 front
4in spring lift

The plan for it was to build a fun daily/crawler. With it being under water the engine had bent a rod and the nv4500 case had cracked from freezing while full of water.

I'll start with the drive train. So far I swapped in a junkyard 5.3 vortec. Gave it a fresh coat of paint, ls swap engine mount adapters with factory mounts. Lsa exhaust manifolds. Drilled the water pump for the steam vent and mechanical temp sensor. I used an 06 6.0 flywheel and drilled the standard nv4500 clutch for metric bolts.

As for the transmission. The case was cracked and after much searching I found a new oem case. I also decided to replace the mainshaft, 5th gear and input bearing retainer for good measure.

is that the waterline going down the side of the truck? :yikes:

nice progress

Thats an awesome color for the engine, you wouldn't happen to have the code handy would you?

I havent seen a lot of ls swaps with the nv behind them, is that a gm trans or a dodge?

Chevrolet Orange.

How'd the name come about? Looks more like Kung Pao

Ya that's the water line going down the drivers side. The trans is from a 95 gm.

You have some balls trying to resurrect this one :saweet:

wonton = One Ton

I hear the yota guys referring to wontons in this manner anyway.
